Walking away from Trans Rights is a culture war revenge fantasy

The middle class woke, their fourth wave feminist allies and non-binary activists have really managed to ostracise and alienate everyone so much so that when the Government ignores protecting transgender, non-binary, and intersex New Zealanders under the Human Rights Act 1993 that no one barely notices…
Govt refusal to prioritise trans and non-binary protections disgraceful – NZCTU
The Out@Work Council of the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions is deeply disappointed by the Government’s decision to not prioritise the Law Commission’s recommendations to explicitly protect transgender, non-binary, and intersex New Zealanders under the Human Rights Act 1993.
“The Government’s refusal to prioritise explicit human rights protections for trans and non-binary whānau is disgraceful,” said Out@Work Convenor Lester Briggs.
“Tens of thousands of New Zealanders, including more than 26,000 transgender adults and over 20,000 non-binary and gender diverse people, are left vulnerable because the law remains unclear.
“Once again, this Government has chosen a pathway that disproportionately impacts already-marginalised communities, compromising their safety, wellbeing, and dignity.
“The Law Commission made clear that current protections are legally ambiguous, untested in courts, and insufficient for safeguarding people against discrimination in employment, housing, education, and access to services.
“We are calling on the Government to reinstate the Law Commission’s recommendations, enshrine explicit protections for gender identity and sex characteristics in the Human Rights Act, and sit down and talk with rainbow communities to understand the lived impacts of ongoing legislative neglect,” said Briggs.
“The NZCTU stands firmly with our trans and non-binary whānau. We urge the Government to reconsider its decision and commit to upholding the human rights of all workers in Aotearoa,” said NZCTU President Sandra Grey.

…imagine if the woke had not spent the last decade cancelling everyone for misusing pronouns?
Imagine how much better things would be if they hadn’t generated the culture war backlash we have seen.
It is unacceptable to leave a community out from human rights protection simply because the majority dislike them.
Sure, the woke certainly didn’t help themselves, but their inane dogma aside, people shouldn’t be discriminated against for being their true selves.
Look. I’m old fashioned.
I think the journey to finding your true self is one of the most important of the human experience.
The idea that there are men who believe they are women and women who believe they are men and people who believe they are both and neither is as uncontroversial to me as the range of human, skin and eye colour.
Where I get cancelled by the woke is by arguing that biological women might well have issues with a biological man in their changing room, toilet or prison cell and that gender based scholarships, spaces and sport need to be prioritised for fairness.
But that doesn’t mean you should be able to discriminate outside very specific gendered roles, spaces or placements.
My daughter has an athletics day each year at her school.
It’s a fun day of everyone playing sport and because her school is pretty liberal, they allow students to place themselves in whatever gender they believe they are.
They held it earlier this month and when they did, a dozen adults turned up and protested outside the school!
A DOZEN!
If you are an adult who can take a whole day off protesting kids running in races and participating in sport they aren’t the born gender of, you have way too much time on your hands.
Yes the woke have made the Trans debate radioactive and they are their own worst enemy, but that doesn’t justify scapegoating them and allowing their intrinsic human rights to be trampled!
