Simon Bridges questions NZ’s long summer break: ‘Are we still in holiday mode until March?’
The head of the Auckland Business Chamber says there are “solid reasons” for a shorter summer holiday period, but changing it would be hard.
Simon Bridges said people feel “entitled” to a long summer; however, he questioned whether the world has changed.
His comments came after a recent column in The Post suggested New Zealand’s summer break was too long.
In his column, Toss Grumley argued that the New Zealand summer break is too extreme.
ZB Hosts, the Prime Minister and even Auckland Chamber of Commerce Pope Simon Bridges have all weighed in this week bemoaning that all the worker drones aren’t working during the summer holidays.

I have heard whispers that if re elected this regime has a range of anti worker legislation ready to present including cutting holiday entitlements and sick pay with the excuse employers can’t afford to pay for it.
The employer contribution for kiwi saver may also be scaled back.
ACT want to go much further with anti union legislation making it impossible for the union to represent working people.

What a load of shit .Kiwis work all year and the country does not shut down like China does at their new year .I used to by machine parts from China and if you had a break down you were stuffed for two weeks .You could not even talk to any one or have a text answered so it was down tools then wait another month to get the parts here .
I used to take my annual leave at easter because it only used 8 days for 2 weeks leave and the weather was better .
As for Luxon wanking on about the USA HE CAN GET FUCKED .My niece lives in Florida and when her dad was dying she could not come home till he died because it would have used her shit amount of leave .When her mum died a few months later her work mates donated a day each so she could come home .If thats the NZ he wants he can fuck right off .

Why has wage and salary growth not kept pace with productivity gains?
If we’re working longer and in a more productive manner, why aren’t we seeing our share?
