  1. Seymour Scrooge. Has a certain ring to it.
Not for charter school children though. They’re too precious to starve. They are the bulwark or Western Civilization. It all sits on their dear wee shoulders.

  2. If the child is not at school they would not get the meal so why make it .If it effects the whole school those doing the right think may put pressure on others to send their children as required. The poverty trap only has one way out and that is education.

  3. ‘Doing the right think ‘ is a perfect example of Orwellian ‘Newspeak’.
Come on Trevor – try ‘ doing the left think, ‘ instead of always ‘doing the wrong think.’

RESTORE STATE SOCIALISM IN AOTEAROA! DESTROY CAPITALISM! (Do the correct think).

  4. Not only is this a miserly idea it would be a bureaucratic nightmare and I thought old Scroogy Seymour was against all that wasted money and too many people administering things. Okay for his charter schools, ministry of regulations and other panels, all to be set up by him, but not for anything else.

  5. Paying schools for lunches for the children that don’t show up seems to be Soviet Union-level wasteful bureaucracy.
