I wonder if somebody knows whether it would be possible to graft another ‘animal friendly’ tree to the pines , so using them straight away for an advantage in bringing along the second tree on present established roots. After a season the wilding pine is trimmed back , and again in another season. This would requite more pruners but I have heard that the new methods with less attention to pruning the young pines which gives better wood, has cut down on employment. We could try it if someone at Lincoln could run research it and run an experiment on it.
