First public hearings into New Zealand’s Covid-19 response to begin
The first public hearings into New Zealand’s Covid response get underway today – with a focus on lockdowns and vaccines.
The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Covid-19 is looking into the government’s response to the pandemic and its effects.
It is the first time submissions will be heard publicly, with the sessions live-streamed.
This week’s hearings particularly concentrate on the impact of the extended lockdown in Auckland and Northland in 2021 and on vaccine mandates and safety.
In a minute issued on the Inquiry’s website chair Grant Illingworth KC said that would include the effect on “social division and isolation, health and education, and business activity.
“We will also hear from experts about the key decisions and their consequences, and lessons to be learned from what happened.”

I believe we did the best we could in a once in a century pandemic and I supported the mandates.
However, because this is a liberal progressive democracy, you can’t hold people down and force an injection into. All injections have to be consensual, and again, because this is a liberal progressive democracy, you have the right to not consent, for whatever reason you want!
While I disagreed with these people, I did agree that they shouldn’t have had to face a stand down on welfare for losing their jobs AND they should have been able to return to their jobs post mandates.
The fact we didn’t do any of that to soften the alienation is on us AND someone from the Government should have gone to meet the protestors and heard their concerns.
The danger for NZ Politics right now is that Winston is so dependent on the anti vaxx Cooker Conspiracy electorate to keep NZF above 5% that he has to keep feeding them raw meat to hold their vote.
This is dangerous because no matter how much Winston seduces the anti vaxxers, he can’t give them what they ultimately want which is to hang the Labour Government on the steps of Parliament.

After an event like a one in one hundred year pandemic that killed 20million people it is absolutely good governance to hold an inquirey or debrief to ascertain what was done well, what was done badly, how can a future event be handled better.
There is nothing tin foil about that.
Is the inquirey going to look at the origin of the pandemic?
How does NZ respond to a man-made gain of function virus (bioweapon)?
Was the lock down quarantine effective?
Was the vaccine safe and effective?
The FDA has come out and said additional safety information has to be disclosed on covid vaccine labels because the vaccine causes myocarditis in young men and boys at a rate of 1 in 2000. Which is WTF high!

Why won’t they let advocates for long covid have their say in the inquiry if the inquiry brief is not about finding someone to blame but a look to future events and how they might improve processes?

Definitely a witch hunt, the health and safety industry is built on preventing the worst-case situation, yet when the government makes rules and very little is known about the disease they get accused of trying to kill people by the lunatic fringe of anti vax people who after decades of telling lies about the MMR and other vaccines probably thought that all their wet dreams had come true at once as they repeated a multitude of

My Microbiologist cousin in Scotland, with a similar population to NZ, made the comment – 3/9/2021 “We are very impressed at how well New Zealand has coped with covid-19. I believe you have had 26 deaths, while Scotland, with a very similar population, has had 18 just in the last 24 hours.“ The joke is large numbers are still dying in NZ of Covid but this CoC won’t acknowledge it, instead they pretend it away!!! How dim witted so many of you are.

I see that STUFF has jumped on the anti Jacinda bandwagon this week .Starting with Sir Ian Taylors open hate letter which was published because he is a Sir so he must be right .If you read between the lines it is a hate letter because he was unable to fleece the people with his own piece of kit as he was too late comming to the market and we we already well served .
I note that stuff did not publish the open letter from Sir Ian and his mated demanding that Jacinda TAX them more and I also note the 100 rich pricks have not come out and made the same request of the current government .
Hopefully the people running the witch hunt have enough cred to call Winston out and ask him why he was telling people that had abandoned NZ to hurry up and come back and bludge off the tax payers .He also needs to be called out for bringing covid into NZ by his actions in doing so .

The representative for the restaurant/hospitality sector almost gives the impression that no lockdowns would have meant business as usual. The only reason lockdown compliance was very high overall was because people wanted to comply. I hardly think people would have been out dining if people were dropping like flies. It absolutely was a horrible time for that industry but global pandemics are literally disasters.
And record numbers are closing every week now that they are no longer funded by the covid KEEP BUSINESESS ALIVE FREE MONEY .They have to stand on their own two feet now and find they have not been making money for the last 10 years and would have failed back in 2020 had covid not come along .

You all forget that Jacinda actually managed TWO PANDEMICS in her time as pm .First she had the MICO BOVIS PLASMA pandemic that was about to wipe out the dairy and beef industry .She took the best advice available at the time and stopped it in its tracks by taking the hard choices and dealing with it .Yes some were badly affected but the whole 10000 farmers would have been wiped out and just growing gorse on the land now .
Then she had to deal with the people virus COVID which would have brought the whole country to its knees .
Imagine if she had let both of those viruses rampage through NZ unchallenged ? Then you would have the right to hate her as we would all be bottom feeders .And the rich cunts like Sir Ian Taylor would have packed up and fucked off and left us to rot .
