  1. The real tragedy for the Green Party, and so for the very real problems it seeks to champion, is that it is identified less for its principles and policies than it is for the personal proclivities of its people.

  2. Right on Bomber.
I note over on substack this morning one ‘matua kahurangi’ has amped up – again and now there is a Doyle v2. This time making mischief with materials produced by Doyle for a sexual health for rainbow youth program. Because obviously for sex ed to reach its audience, it must use formal dispassionate terms, certainly never rude or offensive-to straighty-one-eighties. Oh the curtain twitchery, the pearl clutchery, how very bourgeois.
O’Brien was also peddling her Doyle v1 there earlier in the week. Treating SuSt as a Facebook cum Xitter proxy doesn’t really cut it there. But hey, ‘change my mind’.

  3. Beltway issue. As long as the Gweens are shedding votes is all I need.

  4. Knowingly falsely accusing any person of sexual crimes should probably be a special new category of harassment / defamation don’t you think? I suggest a time-out period preventing public naming and shaming of any accused, length of say 6 months after informing the relevant law enforcement agency, and have seen them do nothing to investigate, to provide immunity from said prosecution. The accused should be notified about the investigation after 3 months so the cops have time to investigate, and so accussed can become aware of what might happen in 3 months so they can hit back and trigger this law (if they are innocent?).
Assuming the Green MP is innocent, it is outrageous and I expect the people involved to be charged. If not…. why don’t you and me launch a private prosecution against them? That has got to be slander isn’t that illegal?
Assuming the opposite, they should have contacted the police initially and then allowed them the space to investigate. Since they failed to do this (I assume), makes it seem very much like a smear campaign.

    1. THIS is the only comment I have seen that holds any value whatsoever. Martyn’s blog is worthy of shouting to the rooftops as an example of humanity, actual facts, thoughts and emotion that any person with a brain and heart should be thinking and saying.
I have just heard Winston Peters, our Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister, reply to a comment from Chloe Swarbrick with “OK groomer”. Chuckling as he also said “pinker” when talking to vile Family First religious nutter McAllister. And when talking to Duncan Garner “we do not accept the sort of pedo behaviour or pedo imaging that’s going on here”.
I’m so disgusted with this Trumpian behaviour so easily becoming the norm, I’m finding it difficult to refrain from engaging with the actual hatred on display here. Sorry for the ramble Tom. But thanks for thinking and writing like a decent person and Martyn, thank you for these good, ethical, human words.
