  1. On the face of it this is absolutely appalling. What threat does an institutionalized 77 year-old living with his whanau in Maketu pose to anybody? Yes, there are questions to be answered as to why one of their own, let alone a “Kaumatua”, was allowed to get into a breach of bail situation, but that doesn’t excuse him being assaulted when returned to custody and both the Ministers of Police and Corrections need to have their departments report on their respective roles in the matter.

  2. Irrespective of what some of you sad sacs on this blog think of him, he has human rights, the same rights the Australian terrorist who committed mass murder in Christchurch has and the latter is costing us millions to keep behind bars.
