  1. Yep, the numbers are there theoretically to send Baldrick and co packing,
but…younger people are less likely to be property owners and more likely be transient, plus the CoC is pushing voter suppression in terms of enrolment periods.

So; a massive voter enrolment campaign needs to be held targeting New Zealanders, disturbing numbers seem to be “falling off” the Electoral roll also which we all need to regularly monitor.

This should be a cakewalk election but the right are determined to use their massive media channel power and gerrymandering to rort it.

  2. My partner and I are “old NZ” but for sure have never, and will never, vote for more of the same CoC style of leadership – although you can’t honestly call it leadership! They are completely unable to think outside the square and stuck with uneducated, imbecilic, corrupt decisions, made by people with hidden agendas , no expertise or experience. It’s way too late to change their mindsets now. So off with the ‘old’ and on with the ‘new’. It’s become boring having to keep up this repetition, but surely it must hit home at some stage? We live in hope.

  3. looking at the local body election turn out we are in serious trouble .Voter apathy has handed the stale pale candidates the councils on a plate .All of these rates cutter dreamers will turn back time and we will be kicking the can for the next three years .They will spend their time moving debt to the water entities and then claim they have cut public debt .Social responsability does not register with these people .Even yesterday the two act councilors in Nelson were panicking because they now have to keep their promise to reduce rates as they admit they do not know how they can do that and now are talking of a figure of 10% over the next 3 years which in my case is another $500 per year at least .With inflation at 3% already they are pushing shit up hill or they will cut services further and rubish will pile up in the street and water will be undrinkable and sewage will flow into the harbour at least .

  4. Yes this “I’m rich and sorted government” ignores women and bottom feeders at their peril and the left had better get out and educate about voters rights because this festering group who call themselves the government could very well win by a technicality. You can already see Luxon courting the immigrants vote by his mere presence of all their festivals while ignoring Waitangi etc.

  5. Too much of a sweeping statement that all old NZ are CoC supporters, look at the average age of the Coc MP’s, apart from Winston and a few others they are mainly in 40 – 50 year bracket, so explain that.

  6. As a boomer I am ashamed of the current generation who are our children and are now leading this government .To think we raised a generation of selfish entitled shit head kids is shameful.

  7. Unfortunately a very large chunk of “New Zealand” has left for overseas with their votes, which has benefited the current shower of idiots by keeping unemploment lower than it should be, and reducing those critical left votes.

    Deliberate play, perhaps?

  8. “It’s in fact the younger AO/NZ’ers who are cringe-worthingly ignorant of our history and our politic”

Agree with that. MB is thinking of ‘old’ in simple chronological terms alone – the boomer-smearing thing he occasionally indulges in. What really matters are old ways of thinking still rooted in mid-twentieth century perceptions of the proper role of Maori, and 1980’s-1990’s perceptions of economic orthodoxy. These do not strictly correlate with advancing age.

  9. Based on the local elections the young are not interested in voting so the boomers are likely to have there way for another few years as we vote to stop change in tax and our pension.

    1. Your pension? Not if your ACT and National parties have their way and when Winston drops dead you will be means tested on YOUR pension.

  10. Some of us boomers were there throwing eggs at Muldoon, protesting against the nuclear Pacific, marching every Saturday against the Springbok tour.
The right love dividing us – race, gender, class – and boomers are just another division in their clever little toolbox. Unfortunately, divide and rule works. Don’t fall for it.
