School warns parents after receiving ‘mouldy and liquefied’ lunches
A Christchurch school has warned parents of a “significant health and safety breach” after the school lunches it was provided were “mouldy and liquefied”.
Haeata Community Campus principal Peggy Burrows said all lunches had been recalled but some had already been eaten by students.
She told 1News staff members usually ate with the kids and that when a staff member opened one of the lunches up, they found it mouldy and liquefied.
She warned parents of students at the school to watch for food poisoning symptoms, including vomiting and diarrhoea.
“More severe symptoms can include bloody diarrhoea, a fever over degrees and dehydration, and frequent vomiting, which warrant medical attention.”
A complaint would be made to the provider School Lunches Collective immediately and a meeting set up, she added.

Luxon stated on TV1 Breakfast yesterday morning that he is the CEO of New Zealand and that his job is to make sure that his MPs are performing.
Clearly Seymour is not ‘ performing’ to the highest standard expected of MPs who are clipping the taxpayer ticket for around $300,000.00 per
annum.
This means the CEO’s job is to now relieve Seymour of his duties and replace him with someone more competent.
Luxon is obviously not capable of this .

In any case we never had hot lunches when I went to school. We brought our own lunches to school or bought them at the tuck shop
Yes we did ,but people got real wages then and rent was affordable not 60% of your wage and if you were one of the really low paid you did not pay tax .Oh how things have changed for the worse .And a lot of families could live on one income so one parent was always at home and would of had time to make nice lunches .

The problem with that is most parents are struggling to pay their rent and you think a 3 dollar allowance will make the slightest difference? No, it will be soaked up with rising power bill and thats if your landlord doesn’t suddenly think a 3 dollar rent rise (on top of whatever amount they were going to raise it anyway) is a great idea. Far better that kids get a proper meal for lunch.

Not true at all. After reading a few articles and paying attention my conclusion is that the driver left one of the heated trays in the truck over the weekend and delivered it with the new order the following Monday. That explains why security footage shows the driver delivering 8 trays (9 is the usual) on the Thursday and taking away 8. On Monday he delivered 9 and one of those trays held the contaminated food. (possibly losing count while loading due to interruption and when he/she counted again to be sure it was 9 except one was already in there) It also explains why the food was hot (truck has warming to keep them hot for delivery) when served while the school has no heating facilities. Human error but hardly evil.
This was one incident at one school, out of hundreds of thousands of lunches served overall. When the numbers get that large, the odd mistake is statistically inevitable.

The reaction of the minister was entirely uncalled for. He tried to make himself the victim of untoward criticism and then Compass became victims as well, they work hard every day, blah, blah, blah. Unfortunately, they suffer from a poor reputation and have nothing to lose at this point.
But the minister immediately leapt on his high horse and began by demeaning the school principal and ducking for cover. Seymour’s reaction was typically rude and unprofessional.
He needs to attend a course on how to improve the way he speaks to people and about people.

The fact the NActs ditched the previous food in school program that worked, and employed 2000 people in worthwhile local jobs that benefited the local community’s ,,, and instead they / Seymour contracted a tax dodging corporation, who no doubt pay minimum wages (except for management), and they deliver slops more fitting as pig food.
