What the actual fuck?

Michelin Guide expands to NZ for the first time

The Michelin Guide’s arrival in New Zealand is being funded through a $6.3 million partnership between Tourism New Zealand and the International Visitor Levy.

Upston says the partnership recognises hospitality as a key driver of tourism and regional growth.

“Michelin represents an incredible opportunity for the food and beverage industry in four of our key culinary centres,” she said.

“Its presence here will mean more visitors dining in those restaurants and enjoying all New Zealand’s hospitality has to offer supporting small businesses, jobs, and local economies in the process.”

We are spending $6million for the food ratings of rich prick arseholes while the Government cuts back on food for food banks?

This is the food we are serving our children…

…how many Michelin stars would this get?

When parents complained about the dirt cheap shit they were feeding kids, the Prime Minister told them to make their kids marmite sandwiches.

Just as with the changing of rules to allow the rich to buy $5million mansions, paying $6m for the ultra wealthy to rate their food is an obscenity in a country that once believed in egalitarianism.

Luxon’s most pressing issue is to get Trump here to play Golf FFS…

Christopher Luxon hopeful Trump will take up his NZ golf offer

…How much much you hate Jacinda for this total capitulation to the rich to be acceptable to you Kiwi?

How will Michelin stars feed NZs homeless and hungry?

  1. I do now wait for the day Michelin will award a Star to a McDonalds restaurant that in his pre-election Photo Opportunity seeking Pavlova Moment Luxon worked in albeit at the time for a few hours???!!!!! That being the McDonald’s he worked in in his younger days.

And so this huge amount of money on Courting the Michelin Stars in order to achieve some resemblance of a Vanity Project comes across as Hollow and with a huge Dollop of Snobbery associated with it. It is Ego and Entitlement at its most Egotistical.

Lets face it but a Compass School lunch here in NZ would achieve a Zero Point Minus Zero One Michelin Star even if that rating does exist. Much like a McDonalds restaurant anywhere around NZ. The contents of those supposedly school lunches would not even be served at Bellamys that MPs enjoy at NZ taxpayers expense. But they have been served in NZ schools.

Sure Compass no longer has a contract but Seymour has taken Over 2 years to acknowledge this and we are now One Year short of the next election. The timing of the extraction of Compass comes across as per usual for me Suspect. And at the same time Seymour in his perfect Arrogance will refuse to admit He Made a Friggin’ Bloody Big Botch Up when it came to Compass.

Meanwhile it is unlikely many of us Bottom Feeders would Ever Want to go into a restaurant because financially it is out of our price range let alone one with a ‘michelin star’ however accoladed it is deemed to be.

And so it shows a ‘michelin star’ restaurant is Only for Those Aristocracy like the Snobbery of the Wealthy who want to Sweep the Poor/Homeless off the streets of a CBD whilst They(the Wealthy)eat Cake and the Poor Gruel.

That is the likes of this government will shunt aside a problem like the Homeless because Overall They Only Care about Themselves and Their Egos.

  2. Think piece: Taxation or funds raised in or from NZAO must not be spent on betterment of the country and its citizens in general. No, not to enhance or increase or provide for the citizens betterment but to be piped off to the side, just inside the gates where there is an emissary from The Better and MORE* Profitable Business School. This flunky amasses perks for the ravening locusts (*MORE being Meretricious Omnivorous Rapacious Expectoration. And further use of ‘flunkies’ – so one can get the measure of them. His purges of “RINOs” and apostates and the elevation of flunkies and sycophants made the Republican Party into a dysfunctional party of weirdos and cranks. https://www.thesaurus.com/browse/flunky

We become gradually more sardonic, as we progress from the simpler, peasant culture to more of the urbane ‘flaneur’** as referred to below about Janet Frame.
** …a flâneur is an ambivalent figure of urban affluence and modernity, representing the ability to wander detached from society, for an entertainment from the observation of the urban life….

Frame has been studied and an essay written around her third work ‘The Envoy from Mirror City’. It recounts some interesting experiences, relating to her journeys in place and mind in the latter part of her life. Perhaps we thinking NZrs need to become, from time to time, ‘flaneurs’ as Janet Frame did, as referred to in this abstract.

This paper focuses on the third volume of Janet Frame’s autobiographic trilogy, The Envoy from Mirror City (1984), first published in Great Britain by The Women’s Press. In this volume, Frame (1924-2004), a titanic figure of New Zealand literature, recounts the beginning of her career as an internationally known writer in mid-1950s and early 1960s London. The essay charts Frame’s narrative of her appropriation of the public spaces of the metropolis, claiming her as a flaneur-artist, an activity generally carried out by male artists. An important part of my argument has been to highlight Frame’s colonial condition, and its impact on her perception of the city. Her un-Englishness grants her a marginal status in metropolitan society, which results in a high degree of detachment and freedom to move. Her cultural background provides her with a special awareness of the construction of difference, as well as a critical vision of London, a declining imperial power in the post-war period, and its urban landscape.

  3. I suppose if it’s done as intended and gets more tourists into the country that spend, then those recipients of such spending will pay more tax which should help the government pay for feeding the hungry and homeless. That was the premise of the question, was it not?

  4. I had to change my glasses because I couldn’t believe what I was reading. It’s obscene and sadistic to read of Luxon’s latest RORT – “Michelin represents an ‘incredible’ [his favourite word] opportunity”. It’s patently clear Luxon doesn’t recognise or acknowledge homelessness/hunger/loss of a job and the resulting HOPELESSNESS. What a shocking, disgraceful waste of money and lives – yes lives – there will be casualties! Homeless people do not work in Restaurants or eat there! Luxon you have truly scraped the bottom of the barrel here and there is no way back. You’re a horrible, selfish, egotistical, stupid lump of lard! You and your mob have learnt nothing from the school lunch fiasco or for that matter from anything else you have stumbled into. The day of reckoning is fast approaching.

  5. 6 Mllion of tax payers money wasted so the rich pricks can be told which restaurant will gladly rip them off and charge 1k for dinner .
And what do the workers at the same place get ,one of Seymours shit compass lunch packs if they get lucky .

  6. 100% This government views the unemployed, disabled, poor, poor children, homeless as nuisances. New Zealand is their rich playground. They literally don’t give a ……. They’re exploiters not builders.

  7. Yes let’s not promote NZ as a top class destination that can match other countries in all sorts of criteria. Let’s be unambitious.
