Education Minister Erica Stanford is standing by the contentious draft school curriculum for Years 0 to 10 as a significant step toward a world-leading education system.
The final curriculum content for Years 0-10 in English, Te Reo, Mathematics and Statistics, and Pāngarau was released last week. On Tuesday, the Ministry of Education began releasing the remaining draft curriculum content for Years 0 to 10, amid growing criticism and calls from some teacher groups to hold off.
Time and time and time agin the NZ Left underestimate how radical and damaging this Government truly want to be when it comes to Public Services and the ideological assault on them.
When David Seymour launched charter Schools, he said it was his hope that 80% of Schools became Charter Schools.
That is a fucking vision and a half!
Erica has sourced her advisors from neoliberal think tanks promoting a racist education agenda to rob Māori of identity while stripping out any sense of the individual.
This is a open attack on creating free thinking citizens to producing worker drones.
Erica’s new curriculum, influenced by the far right, is setting schools up to fail.
All the new targets are far more than the current targets, and that is being done on purpose so that the schools fail and it opens the door for what we are seeing at Kelston Boy’s High.
The private education industry is about to use supposed failing education standards to launch hostile takeovers of all our public schools and Erica’s multitude of new targets is aimed at helping the propaganda needed to ‘justify’ the hostile takeovers.
On The Bradbury Group on Tuesday we were fortunate to have NZ Education Academic Professor Welby Ings on. He pointed out that NZ is unique in having most of our education as public and that our public education system is actually very good.
He was concerned that our system is being set up to fail through a manufactured crisis.
His is right.
Kiwis need to understand just how far right this Government truly are, what you are shocked and surprised at with Kelston Boy’s is a direct function of the changes this Government has made, they are coming for all our schools and the sooner parents wake up the better.

Most of you, by now, must be able to see the extensive problems with this over-confident, inexperienced and arrogant bunch of “losers”! She is not this CoC’s only failure, as we all well know. MORE HASTE, LESS SPEED and an active brain would assist here. We don’t need or want Seymour’s egotistical charter schools! Our school system is well known to be effective, it just needs tweaking, not massive, expensive alternatives!

No-one has answered the question yet. What is BEWT and what will they be paying us taxpayers for the buildings and land at Kelston Boy’s High School? Buildings and land will not just be given to some unknown quantity for their exclusive use when tax-payers have footed the bill for the place since it was built. That’s a huge asset and I want to know what they will be paying.
Did Seymour make it clear that they would need to purchase that asset at market rates? Have they considered that cost when working out their business plan?
If not, it appears Seymour is trying to sell something that doesn’t belong to him. I think that’s illegal.
What sort of person walks into someone’s property and tells them to leave because it now belongs to the newcomer, whether the original owner likes it or not? Oh yes, I remember. That was the general tactic used to gain land round the 1840s.
This amounts to land confiscation and the confiscation of our education system by bullies who have no right to either.
Sack them all. Time to kick them all out. Nothing will be safe with these thieves around.

A ‘tutoring service’ and ‘add-on’ services with couches and TV will not take the place of full-time high school education.
They also seem to think that because a number of their students are already at Kelston Boys, that they can just take over. Smooth transition.
They are a private organisation and will need to pay for the premises.
The other students at KBHS appear to have no say and will automatically find themselves in a charter school. WOW!
With the money being thrown at charter school children, we have every right to expect that not one of them will ever fail to achieve. Not one of them will ever break the law and not one of them will ever come to the notice of the Police, WINZ, OT, or any other govt. organisation designed to help people who fall through the cracks.
It sounds like a here today, gone tomorrow sort of organisation.
If NZ like Finland made it illegal to charge for tuition the wealthy would be happy to make sure the government funded all schools well and would demand high quality in all schools.
KBHS is in Carmel’s electorate and most of the students are Maori and Pacifica. Their parents are mostly lower socio-economic working class. I don’t think the parents will take too kindly to this coalition of which a minor party that got ONLY 8% of the vote in the last election but appears to have 99.999% control of the government forcing things on them.
I get the impression that David Seymour wants to make KBHS a Charter school because in his Insanity Power has gone to his head. So along with being an Arrogant Prick he has Lost His Marbles.
I feel also the action is political in intent because Seymour is deliberately wanting to show to Carmel that because he is In Power(so to speak)he can do whatever he wants and gets away with it. And the Prime Weakling that is Luxon allows Seymour to get away with whatever is done.
