13 more people killed and 101 wounded
Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile-launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 13 dead and 101 wounded. The total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, has risen to at least 67,173 and the total wounded is at least 169,780. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 92 and, that of those injured, is more than 232. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.
Statement at UN Security Council on Israeli Genocide in Gaza
Palestinian-American legal scholar, Noura Erakat, on Monday presented to the UN Security Council a legal argument that Israel’s war on Gaza constitutes genocide. Erakat detailed how Israel’s campaign targets Palestinian reproductive capacity, citing the destruction of homes and clinics, sexual violence in captivity, soaring miscarriage rates and the deaths of newborns under siege conditions. She urged the Council to ensure any ceasefire includes accountability, protection of International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice investigations, and a central role for Palestinian women in Gaza’s reconstruction.
Noura Erekat told the Security Council: “Excellencies, you cannot permit brute power to unravel our humanity. I therefore urge you to:
- Insist that any solution to end the genocide not come at the expense of accountability or respect for international law;
- Ensure, as stipulated by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), that the end of occupation is overseen by the UN, not Israel and its allies;[32]
- Protect the integrity of ongoing proceedings at the ICJ[33] and the ICC;[34]
- End the transfer of arms and other equipment or items, including jet fuel, to Israel;[35]
- Pursue prosecution of individuals, corporations and media companies complicit in genocide; and
- Ensure that Palestinian women can meaningfully participate in rebuilding their societies and ultimately forging our collective future.
Should you be paralysed by fear, I encourage you to look to Palestinian women — they refuse to surrender. Neither should you.

West Bank
Since 24:00 on 7 October 2023, Israeli Occupation forces have been imposing a complete closure on the West Bank, preventing residents and other permit-holders from entering or leaving. The Israeli military also imposes severe and highly–variable travel restrictions on all residents.
