Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

  1. Can you on-to-it people keep track of this. It sounds useful and reliable and innovative.
    https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/BU2509/S00368/prosperity-tracker-launched.htm
Professor Christoph Schumacher from Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa Massey University has launched New Zealand Prosperity Live, a first-of-its-kind prosperity tracker that provides an up-to-date snapshot of national wellbeing and business health daily.

Professor Schumacher from the School of Accountancy, Economics and Finance, also co-created the globally recognised GDPLive. The Professor in Innovation and Economics says the goal of New Zealand Prosperity Live is to redefine “how we measure success” in Aotearoa New Zealand.

“GDP is important, but prosperity is about so much more than just economic growth. Prosperity Live allows us to track whether New Zealand is flourishing across multiple dimensions — it’s a living, breathing measure of how we’re doing as a nation.”…

Good name. Reminds me of: ‘ Small Is Beautiful Wikipedia
    https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Small_Is_Beautiful
Small Is Beautiful: A Study of Economics As If People Mattered is a collection of essays published in 1973 by German-born British economist E. F. Schumacher … ‘

    • ” ..prosperity is about so much more than just economic growth.”
No it’s not. Prosperity is exactly and only about economic growth.

“Prosperity Live allows us to track whether New Zealand is flourishing across multiple dimensions — it’s a living, breathing measure of how we’re doing as a nation.”…

The multiple dimensions are all the families. Families don’t live and breathe well under a Marxist type project.

Sometimes “economic growth” comes across as heavy at heart. Why not just STABILITY for once?

Where the family is stable, there the nation will soon have economic growth, which has to be — but how do we feel listening to Loose Luxon’s “growth growth growth”?

Don’t go asking All Us Moderates type to help you with your tracking.

Imagine having a census situation that everybody wanted to respect.

      • Now we start to hear really odd things from your ‘mind’ Jacqueline.
        1. You state prosperity is exactly and only about economic growth. That’s not the Oxford dictionary meaning I have; Prosperity is flourishing, successful, thriving. To thrive can be to grow rich. But as said in the item – ‘prosperity is about so much more than just economic growth. ‘. So let’s hear no more of your limited ideas Jacqueline.

Then you respond to: ‘“Prosperity Live allows us to track whether New Zealand is flourishing across multiple dimensions — it’s a living, breathing measure of how we’re doing as a nation.”…
with your belief: 2. The multiple dimensions are all the families. Families don’t live and breathe well under a Marxist type project.

Then you go off the point, as if the word Marx brings you out in boils. You continue:

It all goes weird after Marx. So I suggest that you wait till Christmas and they (whoever) start talking about a stable then. Save your queries and demands for Father Christmas or the NZ Initiative. (This is the quintessential cabal for those who put ‘I’ foremost.) Don’t worry your pretty head about the issues concerning us thinkers and moderates, now.

    Winston Peters:
Like I said, we’re here to listen, hear all the arguments, all the facts as best known.
When we have them, we will finalize our decision.

Winston Peters leaves the UN conference on Palestine early, then says he is at the UN to hear all the arguments.

    Well apparantly not.

Foreign Minister Winston Peters speaks to media after attending UN conference regarding recognising Palestine as a state.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7Mr5dxk-qc

    beginning @0:48 minutes

    Journalist:
I understood you were going to be listening for three hours, but you’ve left after two.
    Why did you leave early?

    Winston Peters
Well, so I could speak to you…….

    [Wait, there’s more]

After the Australian Prime Minister hinted that Wellington may have tried to influence Australia’s decision over recognising Gaza, A journalist asked Peters if New Zealand had tried to influence Australia over this matter. Winston Peters avoided answering the question, saying you would have to ask them that.

    Beginning @1:30 minutes

    Journalist:
    When he announced Australia’s position on Palestinian statehood by a journalist, who asked him;
“Are you saying that you don’t think there’ll be any impact on our relationship with the United State in taking this position. Prime Minister?”
    Albenezy responded by saying;
“I’m saying that Australia makes our position clear as a sovereign nation. Our foreign policy isn’t determined in well, in Washington or Beijing, or Wellington for that matter.”

    Journalist:
Has New Zealand been trying to influence foreign policy in Australia in relation to this issue?

    Winston Peters:
……We have an independent foreign policy.

    Journalist:
But why would he single out Wellington in particular?

    Winston Peters
Because he was pestered by questioning from his journalists, in the same way that I am.

    Journalist;
He wasn’t asked about New Zealand or Wellington in that response, which is why…..

    Winston Peters (interupting):
Well, look, look, look, I’ve been in this game a long time, but I’m not a mind reader. You’ll have to ask him that question.

Make of all this what you will, but for me, leaving early before hearing all the debate, evading questioning over trying to influence Canberra to change their position.
All this strongly hints to me, that, under this government, and this Foreign Minister, our foreign policy is not being determined in Wellington but somewhere else.

At a guess I would say that Peters has succumbed to US pressure and New Zealand will not be recognising Palestinian statehood.

Using examples from the masters, including Sir Keith Holyoake, Sir Robert Muldoon, Winston Peters, Helen Clark and Jenny Shipley, the guide offers advice about giving earnest, fulsome and convincing replies without actually answering the questions. The Guide takes us through the Seven Strategies of Successful Subject-Shifting, including Answering a Slightly Different Question, the “Let-Me-Just-Say-This” Manoeuvre, Attacking the Critic and the Amazing Shipley One-Size-Fits-All Multi-Purpose Response.

  3. It’s the top emotive world topic, so it should be Luxon.
The PM hides in the folds of a secret mad head.

The Psycho’s only go-to anymore is that he’s “been in this GAME a long time” which is the very reason we don’t have real representatives as befits All Us Moderates.

  4. Hhmmm.
    https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/business/573856/government-to-announce-new-reserve-bank-governor
The government is poised to announce its new Reserve Bank governor – with an announcement planned for Wednesday.
Earlier on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported, citing an unidentified person familiar with the matter, that New Zealand would appoint a woman to head the RBNZ for the first time.
Bloomberg News did not identify the new governor but said it could be a foreign appointment.

    • Whom in NZ? And Nicola says that the PM isn’t her role – he is quite safe. It would be funny if it weren’t so serious. I think that the saving of the country could be for NZs to set up gambling on politics with the returns going to NZ trusts run by ourselves, vox populi – for providing necessary amenities to citizens living here.

These would be liable to 15% GST and it would create an increase in spending, yhen in gst tax, boost the local economy, and retain that money circulation locally and distribution buoyancy here and keep the economy and country afloat. Sounds good? Look for the negatives arising! – because some people don’t want a better system for da people, we have people either poisonous or lacking in the go that made our past. We had heroes go up Everest, down to Antarctica, fight in wars, make new connections with unknown people in other powers and cultures, and generally perform above human expectations.

The drop from that level is shown in the Erebus plane disaster; our generation goes to gawp at others endeavours, enclosed in the safety of a plane; being manipulated by ambitious upstarts without even part of the older values that produced past heroes. Those upstarts now surround us; can we find some of the old spunk and sense of allegiance and loyalty to a vision of exploration, camaraderie, achievement of wonder (not just huge piles of assets and liquidity.)

Have a go, get prepared. read this and apply to be Reserve Bank Governor – be dangerous as in ‘A little knowledge is a dangerous thing’.

READ THIS for useful information at micro level (citizen on the street! It has good charts /diagrams)
      https://amiba.net/local-multiplier/
The Local Multiplier Effect: How Independent Locally Owned Businesses Help Your Community Thrive
…What do we mean….The Local Multiplier occurs when you spend your dollars at a locally owned and independent business instead of a chain store or online giant. Your dollars recirculate through your local economy 2-4 times more than money spent at a non-local company. As your dollars move through your community, the money generates more local wealth, charitable contributions, and jobs.:

and – Thinking through from the citizen level:-
What is the economic term for when a dollar benefits multiple people?
If I spend a dollar at my local bookstore and that dollar is then given to the clerk as wages who then uses that dollar to buy eggs at the farmer’s market and that farmer uses that dollar to buy wire from the local hardware store and so on until someone spends that dollar in a way that it either leaves the community or gets stuck in an account somewhere and stops circulating, what is that called? It’s the same dollar as it moves through the system, but its value is more than just one dollar because it benefits multiple people even though it doesn’t technically increase in value. Amplification? Magnification?
I’m writing my final for my econ class right now and I remember reading about this and being interested but now I can’t find where I read it.

  5. The war in Afghanistan was America’s longest war. Donald Trump wants to restart it.

The most stupidist thing of all, is that Trump has issued an ultimatum to the Taliban to hand the huge military airbase at Bhagram back to the US or else, because “We built it”. Well actually, it was the Soviet Imperialists that built it.
