It really says something about where we are now as a nation when we can find $2.7billion for Military Sub Killing Helicopters but not $30million for 236 social services providers helping our most vulnerable members of society!
Firstly, seeing as Rock Labs has made us a military target of Russia and China by being a secondary launch pad for the American Military, why don’t they buy the Sub Hunting Submarines?
We are having to buy these Sub Hunting Helicopters to protect Rocket Labs, and Rocket Lab Corp are worth $36B, so make them pay for the Helicopters!
Secondly, if we have Billions to protect Rocket Labs interests, why don’t we have $30million to ensure the 236 social service providers doing the true mahi with our poorest and most vulnerable?
Why spend $2.7billion ‘protecting’ New Zealand when there isn’t anything left to protect?
That $2.7billion amounts to 4000 homes that could have been built to combat our homelessness problem.
600 000 Kiwis need food banks each month, what’s a bigger threat? Poverty at home or Russian and Chinese submarines targeting Rocket Labs?
What have we become for this to be acceptable?
How come we have $300million for Tobacco subsidies but not enough to properly feed our kids at school?
Why do we have $14billion for tax cuts and $3billion for landlord tax loopholes but we don’t have more than 1% to pay our teachers and not enough for our nurses?
This week the Government announced new plans to help Banks make more profits while we get price gouged by monopolies in an ever spiralling cost of living crisis exacerbated by this Government crashing the economy!
How is it that the very worst angels of our nature are celebrated by this Right Wing Government as the common good gets strangled for their donors interests?
A hard rain is going to fall.

We have the best government that money can buy, and the decisions you highlight in this article confirm that.

An old right critique of working class people was “they always have money for booze and smokes though…” which is ironic when the CoC Govt. millions for the Tobacco industry and corrupt relationship with Alcohol producers and marketers is looked at!
This vandal Govt. has put the boot into kids lunches, NGOs including food banks and made thousands homeless-but hey, never mind those losers, buy military choppers to suck up to the US.
If the craft were for patrols and disasters with a freight and passenger capacity then maybe, they appear to be dedicated war machines with NZ further ensconced in the US Imperialist “kill chain”.
Too be an enemy of the USA can be dangerous to be an ally is fatal

Somebody needs to have a look at our defense forces. I heard words to the effect that our navy can’t recruit or retain ordinary seamen, yet it has eighty commanders at HQ on a couple of hundred grand each. My source was navy related. If true it’s an alarming waste. It may be totally wrong but how will we ever know?
