Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

This is USA stuff why here? I don’t want to know about their ugly crimes, we have our own great home-grown stuff to interest us. And this is the news bulk, to catch our attention and keep us concerned and anxious. If only we could all get concerned and anxious on behalf of the suffering people from violence around the world, at present Gaza, also from lack of water and food. Get stuffed RNZ and you lousy media owners. You need a spine and your news leaves us weaker and bent like yourselves.

…The home was so bad, its tenant stopped paying rent for nearly three months in protest, until he could take the landlord to the Tenancy Tribunal.
That tribunal ordered him to repay the money he owed and keep paying rent at a reduced rate, but also awarded him more than $7000 in compensation…

However, after taking landlord Donna Miers to the tribunal this year and winning, the tenant hasn’t seen a cent of the compensation and none of the problems with the property have been fixed after more than six weeks.
“When I wasn’t paying the rent, she was on my case every day, but when I asked for something to be fixed, nothing,” the man said.
The tenant claimed Miers takes advantage of vulnerable people who struggle to obtain tenancies, because of their records.
“I’ve been to prison, I was in a gang,” he said. “Initially, I was just stoked to get a house at all, but, even though I have a colourful background, I’m not afraid to speak out.”

According to the tribunal ruling released to NZME, the tenant, who has name suppression, had been living at the property in Timaru since August 2024 and had paid $450 per week…
The tenant paid for his own Healthy Homes inspection, and that report found no insulation in the property, gaps in the walls, leaking windows, black mould throughout the home and that –

The inspector also found holes in the floor covered by furniture for safety, a toilet that was lifting off the floor and smelling of sewage, water damage from leaks throughout the property, and weather and deck boards that were rotting and broken…

We acted for a landlord who had a dispute with tenants Nick Hoogwerf and Donna Miers in the Tenancy Tribunal. The Tenancy Tribunal found in a decision dated 8 February 2023 that the tenants had to pay the landlord ….

This is what the governments have driven the country to. And this pair have been in the bad books before. It is disgraceful but so much in this country is disgusting. And the politicians wh0 sit on the dungheap up in the beehive are not capable of running a chicken farm, (something that isn’t easy I’ve heard. But they say every three years and many times in between that they are doing good. If landlords that rorted their tenants in such a way had their properties valued and bought from them by rigid laws, the value set on rateable value or land value, and assessed building value, then there would be less of this behaviour, despising and extorting people in need.

Ants do better at housing. Leafcutters have good tunnels, room for a nursery, and one for composting their food etc. Amazing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xxnmh4IDYaU
Maybe we will evolve enough one day to have special rooms for nurturing politicians and civil ‘servants’ who can grow up to be effective tradesmen at building and maintaining a country. Better make that next week!
