‘We didn’t get there’: No Ukraine ceasefire deal confirmed after Trump and Putin talks

A Ukrainian politician has labelled the talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin a “failure” after the leaders failed to reach a peace deal.

Oleksandr Merezhko told the New York Times: “I think it’s a failure because Putin was again talking about security concerns and used his usual rhetoric.

“I don’t see any changes.”

How woulda thunk it?

A Russian War Criminal on American soil meeting an Orange liar!

The shameful spectacle of an American President bending the knee to a Russian KGB Thug is remarkable.

I appreciate the argument about the Minsk Accords and how Russian paranoia about Western encroachment is a legitimate concern, but none of that justifies the illegal invasion of the Ukraine and the horror level of casualties Putin has been prepared to bleed out.

Alexander Dugin is one of the most influential Russian philosophers when it comes to influencing Putin AND Trump. He argues Russia needs to own the Ukraine to protect Russia and his multipolar arguments that Marco Rubio himself repeated in his Munich speech tell us everything we need to know about how Trump is reverting back to the Old World Order.

Trump sees the cost of being a Global Super power is wasteful and sees the funding of global institutions as a waste of American money. He wants to make America a Regional Super Power, adopting Dugin’s philosophy of multipolar interests.

This means Trump is more focused on forcing Canada to join America, taking Greenland and seizing the Panama Canal. That’s being a Regional Super Power.

He is inviting Putin to have his own Regional Super Power status by gifting him 20% of the Ukraine and making Europe pay more for his largesse to protect them, because ultimately Trump wants to make Putin an ally.

Why? Because in Trump’s warped view of God saving him for a special purpose, he is reuniting the old 3 Romes, including Mar-a-largo as the 4th Rome, taking back Gaza and will join forces with Russia to take out the godless Chinese.

Never trust someone who believes God has given them an important mission.

  1. Its not an illegal invasion, it is well within the law, this is why its called a special military operation, Russia coming to the aid of the, at then, breakaway Ukrainian republicans of Luhansk and Donetsk who in January/February, 2022, were facing a huge Ukrainian military build up of well over 100,000 troops on their borders. Facing a potential annihilation of the largely Russian identifying Luhansk and Donetsk regions, Russia could either sit back and watch or intervene. Intervene it did courtesy of recognizing the independence of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions, thus giving Russia the lawful right to come to their aid. That Russian thug, the one-time KGB lawyer, just happens to be a stickler for law. But yeah, I am speaking out of my arse to most people here as Russia, no not Russia, its the hollywood bad guy scripted, Putin who is a bastard here. The red war criminal according to the genocide loving West, yeah this at least makes sense!

Its not an illegal invasion, it is well within the law,…..

      I mean, really?,

The Kremlin never sought any lawful right to invade Ukraine.
In light of this failing, Ukraine sought to get a legal ruling from the World Court (the ICJ) on the legality of Russia’s invasion of their country.

The top court of the United Nations ruled on Friday that it would take up the question of whether Ukraine committed genocide in its Donetsk and Luhansk regions, an accusation at the heart of Russia’s argument for its 2022 full-scale invasion.
The ruling came in a case brought by Ukraine to the International Court of Justice. The court said that Ukraine’s claim that there was no credible evidence that Kyiv was “responsible for committing genocide” in its Donetsk and Luhansk regions was admissible and that it would examine that claim on its merits.
The case, which will likely take many months to complete, will give a legal answer to one of the central allegations made by Russia against Ukraine — that Kyiv has been committing genocide against Russian speakers in the country’s east.
In his February 2022 speech that announced the invasion of Ukraine, President Vladimir V. Putin said that the purpose of the “special military operation,” as Russia has called the war, was to “protect people who, for eight years now, have been facing humiliation and genocide perpetrated by the Kyiv regime.”

Russia did not file a legal case against Ukraine for committing genocide, Ukraine filed this case against itself for committing genocide on the grounds that the Russia’s claims of genocide could not stand scrutiny in a court of law.
Rather than argue the substantive matter, lawyers for the Russian Federation, argued in court that Ukraine had no right to bring a case of genocide against itself, and that this was a misuse of the genocide convention. The court agreed with Russia, and ruled that there would be no substantive hearing into whether or not Ukraine had committed genocide in the Donbas.

      I reported on this case here;

      https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2023/10/08/guest-blog-patrick-odea-ukraine-takes-itself-to-court/

As preventing genocide was the main reason Putin gave as to the legality of his ordering the invasion of Ukraine. Despite having this win in the ICJ, Russia has still not filed a legal case or presented any evidence, at all in the world court or anywhere else, that Ukraine was committing genocide in the Donbas.

As a footnote: Despite the Russian Federation’s success in having Ukraine’s case against itself being thrown out of court by the ICJ judges, the Russian Federation has still not joined the 14 other nations that have joined South Africa’s ICJ case against Israel for committing genocide in Gaza. You think they would y’know just after having won a case at the ICJ.

      • Lawful, yes. Putin “invoked United Nations Article 51 which provides a legal justification for military intervention”…in response to this – “Russia voices alarm over sharp increase of Donbass shelling” https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-says-sharp-increase-shelling-donbass-is-alarming-2022-02-18/

Russia is thee most resource rich country on earth, and we want it. We want to break up Russia and control its resources, just like we successfully did in the Middle East. Ukraine is the first country we are throwing under the bus in order to achieve our desires. We are priming Taiwan to help achieve similar aims against China, and of course, Israel is our attack dog in the Middle East. Its all interconnected, we are the bad guys, not Russia, nor China or Palestine. I am grateful that some of us at least see one side of this connection. I hold out hope that maybe one day, more of us will see the entire picture.

      • You are so out of your depth on Russia, Pat.

The Ukraine situation was inevitable –
Step 1 The Glorious West continues to grow Nato from Day 1 of the End of the Cold War. Thereby making a ready demand for the Military Industrial complex and their investors, perpetuating the Nato trough of swilling bureaucrats, and building the club of weakheaded bullies with no incentive to build relations with their neighbours when they can get the funding and cover of the biggest bully on the block, the US dollar.
Step 2: Deploy bullies against Russian ally Yugoslavia.
Step 3: Legitimise the international crime of aggression under the new US Rules and Orders – Afghanistan and Iraq. This wakes up all the rest of the US target states and Russia. Precedent for Western hypocrisy is set.
Step 4- see step 1 to 3 repeated continually over Russia diplomatic protest and warning for rest of decade. Including Ukraine Color revolution in 2005, and the Maidan coup in 2014. All followng US strategy of resourcing ultra nationalist proxies in pursuit of the Msaximalist Nato goals of All in to the Border of Russia, and EUs maximalist goal of not allowing for Ukraine to build any relationships with Russia, as neighbours should.
Step 5 – the arming and building of the 3rd largest army in Europe in Ukraine. Russia again ignored as its people and interests – yes, its people and interests, that suddenly became in a foreign country overnight in 1991 – are suddenly being demolished by a hostile power. Western Imperialists have already calculated that thy win if Russia does nothing, they get their Nato outpost to create a new to sow discord and destruction on the border; or Russia lose by intervening before the flag goes up.

They got the latter, and self-deceiving Westerners and fools buy the narrative that Russia started this, instead of acting in an entirely legitimate, understandable response to their predicament. Just like the Hamas hostage operation for the Palestinians, except Russia has actual power to match its position, rather than last resort desperation (No one wants to see Russia act in last resort desperation).

That aint Russian talking points. It is the history of record, it is what will be left when the anglo-euro colonial empire is finally dust and memories in 50 or so years.

  2. Dugin is irrelevant, a joke. The only one with blood on his hands is the beast Zelensky- who no more cares about Ukranian (or Russian) lives than his forebears like Lazar Kaganovich.

  3. Strategic Sequencing is the process of the Trump administration many empires have used this formula to remain powerful, and the US empire is no different.

The Alaska meeting between the two nuclear powers is an attempt by Trump to cease the fighting (not stop) because NATO is losing badly and running out of ammo so needs time to replenish their stocks to continue the war in the near future. Read the policy paper by the RAND corporations “Extending Russia” it is ‘continuity of agenda’ whether the Democrats or Republicans are in government.

Russia has already won this SMO and doesn’t intend on giving up its position by having a peace deal on the US terms. The US need to pivot towards the Pacific focusing on China it can’t fight multiple wars simultaneously and is relying on its allies to help with executing it plans.

  4. Please point to where this 3 Romes Theory comes from. Has Trump ever mentioned he wants to make Marelago into Rome?

“I appreciate the argument about the Minsk Accords and how Russian paranoia about Western encroachment is a legitimate concern, but none of that justifies the illegal invasion of the Ukraine”

Putin had a redline. Then just on the other side of that redline the Americans spent a $billion arming actual Ukrainian Nazis to successfully kick off the next forever war just a couple of months after the conclusion of the Afghan forever war.

Gotta use up those MIC munitions somehow.

  5. Putin and Trump try to do a 19th Century colonial old style carve up of Ukraine between them, the only fly in the ointment is Ukraine’s unwillingness to surrender to Russian aggression.

Luckilly Ukraine have found some serious allies, to help them counter Trump and Putin’s imperial carve up of their country.

Trump is a bully with an emperor complex. It is best not to meet with him alone. So this time Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has come prepared and will be joined by key European leaders when he meets with Donald Trump.
The tables have been turned, Trump will not be able to play the imperialist bully boy toward Volodymyr Zelensky before a room full of EU leaders.

    The proposed Carve Up

The US will get exclusive control of the mineral rights in Western Ukraine, in exchange for some possible US Russian joint ventures in Eastern Ukraine and Alaska. But only if the two imperial powers can get Ukraine to agree to roll over and stop resisting the Russian aggression and partial occupation of their homeland.

What’s the Deal with Trump’s Ukraine Mineral Agreement?
    Article by Heidi Crebo-Rediker
    https://www.cfr.org/article/whats-deal-trump-ukraine-mineral-agreement

…..“I didn’t want to make a complicated deal,” Trump said. “Rare earth is called rare for a reason—and they have a lot—and we made a deal where our money is secure, where we can start digging and doing what we have to do.”
The Ukrainian Geological Survey reports the country has vast untapped critical mineral deposits. This includes titanium, lithium, graphite, nickel, and cobalt, which are seen as essential for emerging technologies.
The geopolitical rivalry between the United States and China has put critical minerals at the center of the U.S. national security agenda. The United States is dependent on China for many critical minerals and rare earth elements used in modern technologies, including advanced defense systems, aerospace, renewable energy, and manufacturing. Worse, China is weaponizing this dominance in the context of the current trade war and in response to U.S. export controls on technologies such as advanced semiconductors.
Ukraine’s vast reserves of critical minerals and rare earth elements—assuming they are commercially recoverable—can provide a future potential secure supply chain of many materials the United States needs. Ukraine is especially rich in titanium, graphite, and lithium, but many of the rare earth deposits are located in contested land or too close to active war zones to be developed……

For Russia and the US to get at these rare earth deposits in the contested zones, the US Will try to pressure Ukraine to stop fighting the Russian invader. Cue the Alaska meeting between Trump and Putin.

….The US president will arrive at the much-anticipated meeting with his Russian counterpart on Friday armed with a number of money-making opportunities for Putin.
They will include opening up Alaska’s natural resources to Moscow and lifting some of the American sanctions on Russia’s aviation industry, The Telegraph can reveal.
Proposals include giving Putin access to the rare earth minerals in the Ukrainian territories currently occupied by Russia.Scott Bessent, the US treasury secretary, is understood to be among administration figures briefing Mr Trump ahead of his meeting with Putin in Anchorage.Mr Bessent is exploring the economic trade-offs the US can make with Russia in order to expedite a ceasefire agreement…..

Trump will offer Russia mineral rights to Eastern Ukraine and Alaska with joint US investment, if the fighting stops. Can Putin and Trump get the EU and Ukraine to agree?

Every empire needs to have God on its side, specifically their very own God.

Imperialists throughout history have always employed some mystical or religious moral veneer to justify and hide their true motivations for imperial expansion and conquest.

For the Holy Roman empire it was the Church of Rome.

For the British Empire it was the Church of England.

For the Czarist empire it was the Russian Orthodox Church, and for Putin it still is.
