Merciless blitz on starving Gaza — growing numbers

Victims 15-16 August 2025:
70 more killed and 385 wounded
Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 70 dead and 385 wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved eight more bodies from underneath bomb-damaged property, bringing the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, to at least 61,897. The total wounded is now at least 155,660. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 91 and, that of those injured, is more than 229. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.
The Lancet: Break the selective silence on the genocide in Gaza
When RNZ News reports the latest death and injury numbers inflicted upon the civilian population in Gaza it carefully refers to the source as “the Hamas-run” Gaza Health Ministry.
According to Wikipedia the Health Ministry is considered reliable by the United Nations, the World Health Organisation and Human Rights Watch. Two letters published in The Lancet journal did not find evidence of inflation or fabrication of Palestinian casualty numbers.
