The second set of public hearings for the Covid-19 Royal Commission has been axed after key witnesses, including former Prime Minister Dame Jacinda Ardern, refused to appear.
Those witnesses, including Labour leader Chris Hipkins and former ministers Grant Robertson and Ayesha Verrall, continue to co-operate with the inquiry.
The National-led coalition Government decided in June last year to establish a “phase two” of the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Covid-19 Lessons, to take place after the completion of the original inquiry set up under the previous Labour Government. The ministers have already appeared before the inquiry in private.
The Covid Inquiry is a right wing witch hunt fuelled by anti vax fanatics and I’m glad that Jacinda, Chippy and Grant told them no to the public humiliation section of this!
Let’s be very fucking clear here you sanctimonious pricks, Jacinda, Chippy and Grant HAVE given testimony to this inquiry and answered ALL their questions!
This Inquiry was created by ACT and NZF as a witch trial, it isn’t about learning from Covid, it’s about publicly haranguing our Leaders who guided us through a once in a century pandemic while saving 20000 lives!

Correct Gordon but you missed the fact that the time period covered by the commission specifically excluded the time Winston was Deputy PM, a Cabinet Minister and vocal proponent of telling people to return to NZ OR THEY WOULD BE ON THEIR OWN OVERSEAS.

The commission should be asking those 4 what they would have truly done if they had been in charge. I note while Bishop is making lots of noise about lots of things his Quarantine facility at Ohakea seems to have fallen off the urgent list.

They only questions are what would have happened to NZ if National had been in power, more specifically Simon Bridges as PM. Are they all testifying and allowing expert opinion of what would have resulted from their likely actions?
All we need to know, is that we had a very small death toll and our hospital system wasn’t really overwhelmed.

The fact ACT and NZ First commissioned an inquiry IS proof it is a witch hunt. Why the need for an inquiry? Why not an inquiry into why the pay equity bill was rushed through or why the hush and rush of Govt lawmaking undermines trust and quality?
The coalition Govt responsible for the Regulatory Standards Bill, which ostensibly aims to improve the quality of regulation through a more robust legislative process, is the same one rushing through laws without meeting quality standards and going out of its way to avoid public accountability. Yes AVOID PUBLIC ACCOUNTABILITY. The same ACT party and idiot leader standing before the 6pm cameras screaming for Ardern and co to be held accountable. I do recall that whilst she was Leader of National that Judith Collins expected Low Income NZers to Pay For Their Own COVID Vaccines. For THAT woman Money Mattered More than Saving Lives especially of Potential NZ Voters.

When I had the first COVID vaccine I told a friend about getting it done. She told me I would be dead in 48 days time. She is one of those Anti-Vaxxers and Conspiracy Theorists. The first vaccine was in August 2021 and I am still here.
I again read the pamphlet that I had been given when I went to the vaccine centre at the Birkenhead shopping centre. There was mention of any side effects being within 48 hours. But this friend believed whatever bullshit was told to her by the anti-vaxxers/conspiracy theorists. I believe at the Wellington Protest she went down there to join the protest and probably wore a Tin foil hat.

I would like to thank Jacinda, Ashley and so many others who probably helped save tens of thousands of NZers during the COVID Pandemic. COVID will still be with us for decades and unlike Luxon and Hosking who recently said on Air “That COVID is gone” then they are being Fools of Themselves.
There will be another Pandemic in the coming years and it’s likely I like many others in our age group will not survive it.
When it comes to especially Winston Peters and his Demands for Inquiries on things it looks like he does it for a number of reasons and Logic Is Not One of Them. He does it to be Seen and Be Heard. He does it to be Centre of Attention and in the Media Eye. He isn’t doing it because the matter has Already been dealt with.
