What sort of politician actively celebrates race-baiting?
What sort of Party champions it?
The toxic pettiness to put English before the mother tongue of our nation on our passports is a bigotry that deserves only contempt.
The beauty of indigenous uniqueness that this malice eclipses is not only culturally disrespectful, it is also a book-burning level artistic disgrace.
Our beautiful Passport with the Te Reo proudly displayed first has to take a back seat like segregation bus rides to pacify reactionary ACT Party voters?
That is what ACT are celebrating?
Linguistic segregation with Māori told to sit at the back of the Passport title?
Such sadistic pride in the face of such needless cultural demotion.
It’s ugly politics and egregious artistic vandalism.
I am forever being surprised by the gleeful spite of this Government.

It is a shame MMP partners have driven this move .
It’s a shame this passport change is to appease a measly 8% and yet seemores justification for removing anything Maori is because we are a minority when he is doing the very thing rewarding his minority of voters.
This is childish and pathetic politics when we have much more pressing issues to deal with in our country.
What a stupid thing to do ,put a Dutch NAME ahead of Aotearoa on our national passport .
New zealand was the name given to NZ by Dutch explorer Able tasman who never even set foot on land here just sailing past .
Maybe we should have a referendum about deleting NEW ZEALAND and just using the proper name .After all we are not a dutch colony .
Get real GordW. The Dutch name is longstanding and has visibility (optics?) and is a brand name. Save your fire for when there is reason behind it.
Oh do shut up will you Grey Warbler you spout a lot of nonsense a lot of the time and this is another example of it.
Absolutely right. This should be done by the next government to rectify this shameful and stupid latest noxious petty racist move that no bilingual country will be in any doubt whatsoever ever about the bottom feeding racist bullying nature of it. Disgraceful.

By the Great Fire Snake altering the lettering on passports is going to do absolute wonders for our economy, bring world peace, solve climate change, fund our hospitals, educate children, feed the hungry, provide work for unemployed and cure cancer!
DO YOU STUPID FUCKERS WHO VOTE FOR ACT REALLY THINK IT MATTERS IF TE REO IS ON PASSPORTS!
Or Where it is?
I probably should not let my feelings get the better of me but is this pettiness what counts as victory for ACT? Does it act as some sort of aphrodisiac for them?
It puts me in mind of when Don Brash was grizzling over listening to Te Reo on Radio New Zealand. Evidently the senile, old prick cannot find the ‘off’ switch on his radio.
On the positive side, the continued flow of effluent from this coalition might just motivate those opposed to organise and vote accordingly.
Please oh please make this a one-term government.
If they get back in, then we will be truly fucked. As if it isn’t bad enough already.
TPM draws attention to severe issues high on the list of our concerns.
https://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA2507/S00201/more-mokopuna-made-homeless-in-te-tai-tokerau-kia-ora-e-tama.htm
Te Pāti Māori spokesperson for Housing and MP for Te Tai Tokerau, Mariameno Kapa-Kingi, is calling on the Associate Minister for ‘Homelessness’ Tama Potaka to urgently answer to all whānau and mokopuna left homeless in the wake of regressive changes to emergency housing eligibility.
And this points to the real problem we face in NZAO, beyond racist tendencies, and more than class attitudes. The finger can be pointed at neoliberalism flooding across our fair nation – an invisible evil wizard’s cloak of thought that washes over us and leaves badness behind needing much cleaning to clear. Frankly, in an attempt to shift our minds off the usual rails, I think of the children’s, folk, cautionary tales of the Europe we whites came from, including me. Rumplestiltskin is the evil seducer offering dear, eager, naive little Kiwiland the ability to make heaps of gold, and the promise gets paid for in giving up our cherished land, housing, pure water etc. In the fable the supplicant had to own, name, the sly and devious usurper. What do you think? It seems a good analogy, a parallel storyline. What, the fraught name/pseudonym/acronym – GST AI, or alternatively FTT? Is it an enigma – in code?
The New Zealand passport is not and never has been a document which asserts the identity of an independent nation. The note inside reads “The Governor-General in the Realm of New Zealand requests in the Name of His Majesty The King all whom it may concern to allow the holder to pass without delay or hindrance and in case of need to give all lawful assistance and protection”. When I traveled overseas on a New Zealand passport I added a note of my own which read something like “Presentation of this passport does not in any way imply that the holder recognises the claim of the British monarch to sovereignty over the land of Aotearoa”. My amended passport was accepted with approval in all the countries to which I traveled. Perhaps other travelers could alter their own passports in appropriate ways in response to the government’s changes.
just more dumb shit by this government .They are going to allow roofers to work at hight without scaffold but not allow kids to collect eggs or water the garden. Its ok to go to work and be killed but not ok to collect eggs .What the fuck .
