This Government has destroyed the economy – when will voters admit it?

Let’s be very clear, the economic pain you are feeling right now has nothing to do with Jacinda and Labour spending up to save us from a. once in a. century pandemic, the pain you are feeling is the bitter harvest of THIS Government’s own policy platform!

The Economy is so damaged from National’s 2024 construction costs that the knock on effect has been devastating.

Business investment is now so weak that banks have not lent any net new money to non-landlord businesses and farmers since May last year!

As Bernard Hickey points out…

those on higher incomes are benefiting from tax breaks and high term deposit rates are simply increasing their savings – household term deposits have risen by $25 billion since the election in 2023!

…the rich got richer and the poor got left behind!

This Government’s economic agenda is to slash the State and hope the market steps in and does it cheaper, but the reality is these austerity budgets plumped up by borrowing for tax cuts while hollowing out public services is seeing an exodus of workers to Australia.

There is no vision here other than to mutilate the public good for the Rights donors.

At some point Kiwis you are going to have to reflect on your post Covid bitterness towards Jacinda and acknowledge this hard right anti-Māori, anti-Treaty, anti-beneficiary, anti-worker, anti-renter, anti-climate Government has betrayed you.

They have used small business morality to enable corporations while selling you culture war revenge fantasies as social policy.

We are better than this Government and their toxic Trolls.

  1. Martin ,Martin you forget this is what the sorted and the squeezed middle who thought they were in the sorted group voted for .The unsorted are now the crushed middle, many of whom will still vote the same at the next election .Even now they have lost that well paying job ,the business ,the wife and kids ,they will still vote that way .
Thick as pig shit is the NZ voter .

    • Yep..spot on …the MAGA crowd are alive and well in Aotearoa N.Z. as well.
These people are ignorant and delusional …a bad combination.

They have little to know knowledge of what is really happening and speak in nonsensical riddles when trying to articulate why they believe Luxon ,Willis, Seymour and Peters are going to be the answer to the countries appalling collapse when they actually induced the collapse.

There’s no hope for these people..They are blindly voting against their children’s futures… and they don’t care..

Oh… and apparently … according to them, climate change is a hoax.
      Says it all!

  2. Who will be the next cab off the rank once they have destroyed everything Maori and local councils .Willis has failed to destroy supermarkets and Fonterra in the last few weeks so she may turn her attention to pensioners now .Another easy target ,forgetting that someday she too will be a boomer .

    • Willis thinks all NZers are thick, and she plays games like the butter stint with the Fonterra CEO she is always looking to shift the blame on anyone but her party and the other cronies in coalition. Hopefully we can get rid of her at the next election but at the moment her party is doing everything possible to stay in power this lot have no morals or ethics.

  3. The wierdest thing happened to me recently. I was killing time in Parnell Auckland waiting for someone to turn up and ventured off the street into a shop. Sale signs outside. Just looking but that’s the customers perojative. No sooner in there than chased out by the manager/owner accompanied by a woeful tale of how hard business is and how she loses patience with browsers who have no intention of buying anything. What? I was lost for words but retiring to the seat outside began to reflect on what she said. Noone with money to spend. Greedy landlords. Things not going well. Just a short step away from liquidation. Clearly she was stressed out. I felt like saying serves you right, people like you put this bunch of clowns in office on a few hollow promises. I was in blue cap territory after all. But didn’t. That would have been too presumptuous.

  4. NZ voters – not particularly well informed and guided in large part by the ZB mano sphere. A collection of angry men and women railing against government and council spending and an eternal demand for tax cuts as they only solution to any problem NZ has.

  5. The appalling incompetence and corruption of this coalition does little to obviate the appalling incompetence and corruption of Labour.

This creates a Gordian knot in NZ politics that needs to be cut right through.

Neither of these parties are worth the recycling fee you’d have to pay to dispose of them.

  8. They’ll admit it when it affects them personally. Until then, it’s someone else’s problem. Most people don’t really contemplate the flow-on effects of an economy in the shitter until they’re at the sharp end of it. If it’s just people in low-wage jobs or a few dirty bennies having to struggle, pffttt… who cares? But when Charlotte and Tim can’t afford butter to put on their croissants at breakfast time? That’s when shit gets real.

“No one’s spending any money and my business is circling the drain!” Yeah, people need to have money in order to spend it, and when things are as financially grim as they are now, people are going to be grasping their wallets and purses like a drowning man clinging to a piece of driftwood.

I’m sure Nicki No-Boats is totally onto it though. Putting that degree in English Literature to good use managing the nation’s finances. Legend.

  9. we are in the post reality, science denial, decadent era that precedes utter disaster.

our leaders are useless shitstains lining their own pockets

our fragile democracy has been totally overtaken by dirty money and it’s just a matter of time before we become a 3rd world mess with the 1% owning everything and the rest of us scrapping over crumbs
