MethaneSat down: how New Zealand space ambitions fell off the radar
Satellite built to track emissions fails just as New Zealand scientists about to take control and reap returns of NZ$29m government investment
When you consider the massive secrecy around this satellite ‘failing’ and combine that with the massive economic damage that would be caused from the true measurement of run away methane, I would not be surprised in the slightest that the MethaneSat was deliberately sabotaged to ensure it didn’t work because massive polluter interests within NZ would not want the true measure of methane ever reaching the public.
Methane is a run away gas event.
Once the frozen methane from Siberia and the ocean start bubbling up, it could cause a run away global temperature jump of 10 degrees within a decade.
That extra spike in heat would melt all the Greenland ice shelf, that massive dump of fresh water into the Labrador Sea would shut down the AMOC and that would cause the deaths of maybe as many as a Billion human beings.
You can appreciate why a Government satellite that would prove all this goes suddenly silent.
