Announce protest actions, general chit chat or give your opinion on issues we haven’t covered for the day.

The Editor doesn’t moderate this blog,  3 volunteers do, they are very lenient to provide you a free speech space but if it’s just deranged abuse or putting words in bloggers mouths to have a pointless argument, we don’t bother publishing.

All in all, TDB gives punters a very, very, very wide space to comment in but we won’t bother with out right lies or gleeful malice. We leave that to the Herald comment section.

EDITORS NOTE: – By the way, here’s a list of shit that will get your comment dumped. Sexist abuse, homophobic abuse, racist abuse, anti-muslim abuse, transphobic abuse, Chemtrails, 9/11 truthers, Qanon lunacy, climate deniers, anti-fluoride fanatics, anti-vaxxer lunatics, 5G conspiracy theories, the virus is a bioweapon, some weird Bullshit about the UN taking over the world  and ANYONE that links to fucking infowar.

    From the Telegraph:

The Western activists’ march to Gaza that became a farce

    Guy Kelly 18 June 2025 8:00am BST

World leaders have repeatedly attempted the diplomatic solution. Sanctions have been imposed and court orders issued. Meanwhile, the media has done what it can to shed light on the bloodshed.

Yet until this month, nobody had thought to try what now seems like an obvious solution to a complex, never-ending situation in the Middle East: sending a convoy of optimistic foreign activists to simply walk across Egypt and straight into war-torn Gaza, where they can offer help, support and peace directly to those who need it most…..

….And march they did, for a bit, some 4,000 of them hailing from more than 80 countries – including Britain, the USA, Canada and Ireland – laden with the best of intentions and, it turned out, the world’s most deluded travel plans.

Video clips and accounts on social media do not make for pretty viewing: peaceful activists being set upon and whipped, stamped on and beaten by locals; passports and phones being confiscated; crowds kettled at makeshift checkpoints; small groups forcibly put on buses to be returned to Cairo and deported.

It is easy to feel sympathy for members of the convoy, who are being subjected to horrific conditions while they take courageous action in the name of a desperately worthy cause. It’s even easier, though, to sigh and wonder quite what they expected….

….. the overwhelming social media reaction to their odyssey has been mirth, despair and disappointment. But principally mirth. You’d have to imagine that wasn’t the original objective…..

If we had a government (central) it wouldn’t be so important to have local government active and on task. Seeing that Local Government NZ is involved with NZ Initiative – right wing leaning – and perhaps being in for right-wing meetings in Switzerland with other monetised entities, is concerning. A citizen wanting NZAO to thrive at its own pace can feel discomforted? But still we want to hang on to as big parts as possible.
