School lunch provider turns to Australia for help
With its main food manufacturer, Libelle, in liquidation, the School Lunch Collective this week turned to Australia to ensure it had enough meals.
Meanwhile, the government insists the collective will continue to supply the 466 schools covered by its contract on time and in full.
Wednesday’s menu for most schools covered by the collective was individually packaged meals from Australia – mostly beef lasagne but three-cheese macaroni for some.
Kaitao Intermediate staff described the lasagne as four sheets of pasta with a little bit of sauce and told RNZ the meal did not go down well with the school’s pupils.
Jesus wept, on top of all the vast problems with this corporate slop including food kids don’t want, food that isn’t Halal safe, vegetarian food with meat in it, burnt plastic in the food, food so hot it burns children, one of the providers going into liquidation which David Seymour described as ‘very good’???

I think it’s called CER. We export the workers to pack those lunches in Australia, and if it’s Aussie apples being snuck in over here, and their aeroplanes flying in food all on my tax dollars, then they’re no more economic relatives than that befuddled victim Prince Harry’s are.
The kids are to busy playing sport and socialising at lunchtime to bother with ANY lunch. Would not matter if it’s a Labour lunch or Seymour’s slop.
So this CoC can’t even support it’s own local businesses and employment now.

Erica Stanford, being Seymour’s boss on this issue, appears very weak and is doing a Luxon instead of stepping in and sorting this out. Clearly, Seymour is actually her boss, being the ACT leader and actual Prime Minister, from a policy and public perspective. A coalition bereft of their own ideas and directed by the Atlas Network. Look at the similarities in policy of all these new right wing Governments around the world- gut the public service, reduce tax for the wealthy while increasing stealth taxes and user pays for the plebs, and a transfer of wealth to the rich through privatisation.
Yes as she is his senior she should step up and can the new system and return to old suppliers ASAP .That will never happen though because it is national policy that kids should be seen and not heard or fed .
As long as local NZ business that might be connected to the Māori community (and used to do the lunch program) are cut out from doing the work I think the coalition will be very happy to send ‘NZ taxpayer dollars’ overseas instead.
It’s at school that children’s dietary habits and expectations are established. This is why they should be getting healthy lunches, whether their parents can afford it or not.

Zelda IT IS the role of the state to care for the health and well being of ALL citizens. including the children that one day will be the nurses, doctors, drivers, workers, teachers and future taxpayers.
It is important that they be well fed, healthy, adequately housed and paid so they can make the ‘contribution’ that you are so keen on.
The alternative is a surly, sickly, criminal underclass that continues to be a drain on our health system, overcrowds our prisons and makes our society more dangerous and insecure.
I worked as a teacher. Yesterday I had a blood test administered by an ex-pupil of mine who told me how education had rescued her, and her siblings, from deplorable family conditions.
Not only I, but all teachers, could give you examples of young workers today who have rescued themselves from degradation through education and training and are more useful members of society than self centered scum like Luxon ever will be.
Zelda, when you are older and even more demented than now(if that be possible) and you are again lying, bed-ridden in your own excrement, these are the cheerful young people that will tenderly and gently clean your stinking carcass(ignoring your screamed insults when you see their skin colour), they will help you shower and feed you properly, see you get the correct dosages of medicine, put you on the toilet and lift you off and listen patiently while you babble on about God.
All this because they are genuine in their love of humanity that they learned as healthy, happy, well fed students.
(Mind you, if Seymour et al have their way the Health and welfare system will be so comprehensively rooted that old crazies like yourself will just be dumped in the nearest open space for the scavengers to start working on).

Seymour has had 2 jobs that have had measurable output in his miserable life.
One is the school lunches and that is a disaster.
The second is getting more money for Pharmacy. They continue to be useless because they have bowed to political pressure. Take the increased funds for diabetic monitors and pumps.
Excellent work, you can get the monitors that tell you what you need but you need to wait 5 years for the matching pumps because we don’t have the clinicians required to implement the scheme.
So he’s failed on that as well.

The simple fact is you can not provide a balanced healthy school lunch for $3 .Just ask any mum when she is doing the shopping each week if there are two teens in the family .And if you open your minds 1 piece of fruit is $1 now at the super market so if they are to have the recomended serve of 5 a day that would be $5 per kid per day .1 piece for lunch is $1 for a start then there is 50 cents for the tray on a good day plus transport and the cost of dumping the used trays in the land fill .Thats all before they make the pig swill .My grand kids had mac n cheese the other day which they said tasted ok but the imitation mashed potato was unidentifiable but it did not taste or look like mash .
Seymour and his class of business show us how not to deliver. He knows fuck all about business, nor how real people live. The prick needs to spend some time on the bones of his arse and learn some humility.
