Fears Māori will pay heaviest price if police carry guns
- The police union says 68% of officers support routine arming
- Commissioner Richard Chambers says he hopes it won’t come to that but he’s open to discussions on the matter
- People Against Prisons say if police have instant access to firearms they will use them – predominantly against young Māori men
- The Council For Licensed Firearms Owners says police will have to improve training to ensure they can safely carry firearms into every situation
Look at the burnt out dead eyed eyes of our New Police Commissioner Richard Chambers!
You just know he will open fire on Civilians without question when Mark Mitchell orders it.
We are back to the good old days of Police Commissioners being 1000-yard-stare-punch- drunk-damaged-fry-outs who play Russian roulette with live ammunition just to get a bump.
From the expensive white boomer hair dye to the grim eyes of horror, he is perfect as the State Goon that this Government will turn to to start the Great War on the Bottomfeeders Luxon is itching to begin.
Luxon said during the Paddy Gower election interview last year that he wants 500 armed police to raid a gang tangi to remove the gang patches – that’s how extreme Luxon is prepared to go and with the economy collapsing because of his Austerity Policies, National need some bullshit over the top symbolic gesture to eclipse everyones attention on how bad the economy is.
The new dead eyed Police Commissioner will give him those 500 armed police to storm a gang tangi.
This is what we is now. This is what we have become.
Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice – please donate here.

More than a few people will see your assessment as a recommendation.
His work record indicates he is the right person for the job and the police I know are happy he is their boss. He will work well with the goals set by Mitchell. It will be interesting to see the results in 12 months time.
Will you criticize Chambers when his strategies have the opposite effect that is being touted by M Mitchell and co.?
Some might see the Depts of Health and Education teaching New Zealand school children that they can choose or change their gender as being a heck of a lot worse than banning patches in public places.
Of course the thought had never crossed their minds until then.
Nobody chooses their gender. Some people are forced to endure hatred & suffering to correct it.
If what you say is true then there should be evidence to support your view. Since there is no chemical, genetic or other biological test to support whatever gender people feel like the obvious conclusion is that it is all in the mind. I might believe that my car is a boat but driving into a lake will demonstrate that no amount of wishful thinking will escape the laws of physics. While we need to treat all people with respect that doesn’t mean that we have to think exactly the same as them.
Except Bonnie we are talking about gender not sex.
So are you going to tell us being homosexual is all in the mind as well? If so then the mind is all powerful
I would have thought you would have some empathy when talking about belief versus evidence
But homosexuality isn’t a gender change thing, it’s guys liking guys girls liking girls, bisexuals liking both… and then there’s the gender-bender Greens who don’t seem to like anybody except themselves.
I thought that my comment applied to both, I do have empathy in all situations as I believe that we are all sinners in need of a saviour so I certainly don’t see myself as better than others, in a practical sense that means that I am friends with gay and ex gay people, I have repeat customers who are gay in my work (building repairs) also. While I appreciate that many same sex people see it as impossible to change their attraction to the same sex I have known more than 1 person who has changed which I why I don’t see our choices as set in stone.
I am willing to change my mind if anyone provides any verified test that can prove that people are born gay.
Agree it is a choice. Not sure why you imply gay people have to change. I think you missed my point about belief and lack of evidence. Find me a verified test that confirms we are all sinners in need of a saviour and I’ll change my mind.
The gangs need to seize the initative and stop wearing patches and go muffty and still carry on what they are doing .No patches will make it way harder for the police to point the finger and more crimes will go unsolved .
No doubt it will happen, this is what happened in Western Australia. Also, criminals from different clubs have been found to be cooperating with each other, creating ‘casual’ criminal cartels. So there is plenty of reason to believe that will happen here to a larger scale than is currently happening.
You are right Gordon.
Yesterday I was on State Highway 3 between Palmerston Nth and Whanganui and was passed by at least 30 bikes. You could tell they were gang by the style of helmet, bikes, jackets and the way they rode. NO PATCHES THOUGH, so police could not do anything to manage them if they wanted to. No illegal insignia means one possible policing tool has gone.
They can’t be pinged for illegal assembly because to all appearances they are just a group of blokes out for a ride to get a coffee.
Unintended consequences.
Well that’s what they were always going to do. The Tony Sopranos of this world didn’t need a patch to be evil monsters
The police have a photo of every known gang member and most will be recognized with or without their patches . The public may be in danger of not knowing who they are dealing with .This could be a problem for some
so they are going to carry around photo albums now .
gordon walker. Smart phones are smarter.
Could be a simple solution if you were not a gang member. Patches signify more than we know for those of us who have never had an association with any. I mean look at the Royal family, they can’t stop awarded everyone a patch for something every other month and then stripping them for the shamed ones for humiliation….you know, they seem pretty important for those that care about them.
Yeah this guy looks straight outta central casting, the evil alter ego of Willem Dafoe playing a good guy, Mr Hyde to Dafoe’s Dr. Jeckall. What’s the bet he’ll exceed all expectations.

best look behind you and under your bed all the time
Your observations are exactly on point. This commissioner has DANGER / EVIL written all over his face. We do not need these Psycho paths in power.
