Andrew Coster rules out second term as Police Commissioner
Police Commissioner Andrew Coster has ruled out a second term in the role.
A police spokesperson confirmed to the Herald his term expires on April 2 next year and he “expects to finish on that date”.
Coster was appointed commissioner on April 3, 2020, after recommendations from the State Services Commission to Police Minister Stuart Nash and Prime Minister Dame Jacinda Ardern.
During the Dumb Lives Matter protests on the lawns of Parliament, the Wellington Middle Classes shat themselves that the smelly Lumpenproletariat had arrived and wanted a revolution without pronouns, the woke screamed that the Police should go and clear the lawns with Riot Police.
It was Andrew Coster who calmed the Wellington middle classes down.
He knew that the State had the power to clear those lawns!
The State in a Democracy is the only one who can legally use violence, their Police Force will always be able to bash you and use more force than you can.
The question was never ‘can the State beat Dumb Lives Matter protestors off Parliament’s lawns’, the question was always, ‘Should the State beat Dumb Lives Matter protestors off Parliament’s lawns’.
Coster was a voice of reason when the Wellington Middle Class Woke were losing their fucking minds in calling for state violence to beat the smelly Lumpenproletariat Nazis, he was prepared to pull NZers away from their most violent extremes.
In the end the State did beat the shit out of the protestors and set in motion a dark treacle of hate in the hearts of those the pigs bashed and they took that dark treacle of hate back home into the Kiwi hinterlands where it has metastasized into a billion shards of different reality shaped by rage, loneliness and social media hate algorithms.
But for a moment, Coster was all that stopped us hurtling down into all out conflict because he understood the legacy of the state using force in that manner and he knew that in a liberal progressive democracy, the Police force can’t become a Police state.
With a roof head like Mark Mitchell as Police Minister alongside a Prime Minister who has openly stated that he would demand 500 armed Police storm a Tangi if a gang member wore a banned gang patch at the funeral.
Luxon stated during the election debates that he would do that, can you all imagine what the fuck would happen if 500 armed Police stormed a tangi to remove gang patches?
Coster does, and there’s no fucking way he wants to be running the Police Force when that spastic order of hate comes down.
Coster leaving removes one of NZs most important Police State safety guards.

No doubt he will move to Aus and take another 1000 of his staff with him .He can see the shit is going to hit the fan next year as police are becoming privatized to look after Liv Beck and her mates in down town Auckland .
Meanwhile there are 175k domestic assults a year that police will not be looking into unless someone is killed .
And yet there has never been any apology, or explanation, for the violence inflicted upon women at Albert Park, while the police watched ineffectively. Security guards got Posy Parker out of there. Police themselves paid a high price at the Parliamentary demo, but it was failure on the part of the state which escalated that terrifying occurrence and all political parties were at fault, with the Green Party now alarmingly promulgating gang members as more reliable than the New Zealand Police Force.
On both occasions people were silenced. If Mitchell tries to use the police as weapons of destruction, more will quit. It would behove him to make an appropriate response to the extraordinary and dangerous allegation of the Greens.
Good, no more Labour’s lap dog. Can we get rid of Cahill too?
hE IS ACTUALLY MATES WITH MITCHEL ,REMEBER THOSE EMAILS AFTER THE ELECTION.
Now he can see what and arsehole his MATE is he is pulling out because he knows its all down hill from here .6million people and 2000 police at best just wont work .Mitch will have to bring in his mercinary mates to control those pesky gangs and other people that were abused .
gordon walker Those emails were professional courtesy, nothing more, nothing less. That’s how grown-ups do things, Greens and TPM now excepted.
what ever pip thats a load of old cods wallop a proffessional email would not be calling each other MATE from my experience
Exactly what he would love to do, and how he justified his own private security work, by saying the governments private expertise. This is what will happen.
Bahahaha you are clueless, that much is certain. The Act gun lobbyists lap dog.
Erik Nordmeyer Coster and Ardern came down for a photo op thanking the battered and bruised Parliament grounds coppers after the ball was over. Nice to see them. Nice.
Gentle, Winston came down for votes and it worked. No one, not one came down from National or Act.
“The State in a Democracy is the only one who can legally use violence, their Police Force will always be able to bash you and use more force than you can.”
That is not correct on either count. In a democracy the people can legally use violence in self-defence – especially against the police. The police do not always and everywhere have overwhelming force. That should be obvious to everyone. Force is not all-pervasive. It can only be applied at specific times and places. At certain times and in certain places the police will be the predominant force and at other times and places the people will. It all depends on how astutely the respective parties are able to dispose their forces.
Geoff F. Further, Coster’s not a one man band. He’s advised by his policy makers. I gather Wgtn policy advisors supported the transgender hijacking of the Albert Park event convened to give women voices.
Very few commissioners go for a second term.Coster was hamstrung by weak Labour police policy. He has shown he has the backbone to practice what most want but it is hard toclaw back the respect he lost.
Coster was highly respected, he’d have lost it all staying under National, of that there is no debate.
Cuddle Coster, won’t deliver Beck’s ‘new’ police station in Fort Street.
Need a new Sheriff in town.
