While the news that Joe Biden has ended his US presidential campaign will come a relief to many Democrats ,the issue of his age has highlighted a problem we all eventually face.
For most of us our bodies deteriorate faster than our minds. A lot of seniors remain sharp thinkers on big problems even if they sometimes struggle to remember names or where they put the car keys.
For some of us our minds sadly deteriorate faster than our bodies.
Yes, medical science has helped us lived longer than previous generations but as a result we now face social problems we have not previously known including intergenerational envy.
Biden is a boomer – one of the privileged post war generation that the younger generations coming up behind just want to get out of the way.
But power is seductive and giving it up is difficult so I am not surprised it took him a while to do what is the right thing for his country.
And this issue of how to be of the best service to others touches on something a lot of the under 40’s forget – that many of our charitable organisations and services would collapse if it wasn’t for the hard work and dedication of our nations seniors.
All the best as you head to your retirement Joe . I’m sure your find a way of continuing to be an asset to your country.

Go Joe and put your feet up you have done your bit for your country .Just a pitty that ferrals are taking over .
President Biden has a fine record of service to America. That has nothing to do with his obviously dimentia. Blaming so called ferals is not relevant.

Forgetting a couple of things is not dementia. As usual, the facts are usurped by unverified nonsense or “information” gleaned from social media (we all know how accurate that is). But, I have to admit, he does appear quite frail and open to uninformed BS – so better he step down and let the next generation step up. I am not sure that Kamila will have enough to beat the ‘orange one’ who ‘should’ be better for his previous tenure.
It’s great the Joe finally recognized his limitations, and decided to leave gracefully. I am sure he will find other worthy causes to give his efficiencies.
Not sure if Mr Bruce is referring to the correct Joe Biden who should be in jail for his corruption. Biden only stayed on in the hope of getting his equally corrupt crack-smoking son off historic tax charges which of course failed and Hunter was eventually convicted. Oh and all the backhand cash deals from Chinese nationals connected to the production of fentanyl. Not made up, easily verifiable facts hidden by legacy media
Gee I’m surprised you didn’t mention baby killing fetus eating orgies under the White House.
Yeah nah, his take on Biden’s correct, not sure he’s a convicted felon, that would be Trump, I hear Rightist Tears and Padded Ears.
The only thing easily verified by your comment is your insanity. Impeachment Trump with a recent conviction and numerous immorality and lies on public record is overlooked in your rant so you can spew your bile over our screens although I’m sure that it will not take 4 years for you to regret every word you have said.
If you’re concerned about immorality and lies on public record you might need to acknowledge Biden has unmercifully and erroneously blamed a truck driver for killing his wife and daughter in a car crash for the entirety of his political career post the crash. He’s not been quite truthful about the first meeting with his current wife or his university achievements either.
don’t worry – I’m sure he’ll pardon his son before his time is up.
As if there’s been any ammurrican political leader- much less a President- in living memory (including what Biden’s would be if he could remember to his childhood let alone just what he had for breakfast) who shouldn’t have faced the most extreme consequences for corruption and war crimes.
“Boomersplaining”
Joe Biden was born on 20 November 1942. Baby Boomers were born from approximately 1946 to 1964.
If anything he is a war baby and a member of the Silent Generation.
Biden is an absolute failure, more so in foreign policy than anything else. And as for the southern border, thanks Biden for pretty much an open border for criminals to cross. Utter shameless fool who should not have been given the dignity of resigning
What? He’s repatriated more prospective refugees than Trump ever did. Of course he didn’t keep their kids in cages and separate them from their parents, but you can’t have everything.
Not to mention – jobs are up, real wages are up, inflation is down. That’s a damn sight better record than any of our governments in the last 20 years or so.

The Flash, of, old Hollywood, made his smile captivate, those old years, of Hollywood, made Joe, America, not great again, caring better, social care grasp. Chancer Harris, the president now relinguish, and deputy, take control, as our President.
As one of the last of the war generation, Joe Biden spent a lifetime in service, to his family, his state and his country. He was man enough to admit his failings and humanity publicly, and modest enough that he didn’t ever blow his own trumpet. Unlike his opponent, who is the exact opposite.
According to people who have met him and have had dealings with him, his strength was his ability to establish a rapport with everyone at a personal level. Apparently, he was the friendliest, most personable, likeable character who got things done from the moment he was elected to the Senate. His life was full of tragedy and sheer dogged perseverance. I hope he enjoys a well earned retirement, because he deserves it.
As for his successor, what a delicious piece of poetic justice it will be when she beats the snot out of Felon Daipher Don, exacting sweet revenge for her gender against a lying rapist who intimidated Hilary Clinton. I hope she gets to debate him, and if he tries his creepy move like he did with Clinton, she’ll deck him. That alone would get her elected. Secondly, I hope she chooses Bernie Sanders as VP running mate. That would put the shits up the wealthy pricks in America.

Some good political quotes here, some a little wry! Note – I have the feeling that there was more wind of all sorts around Thomas Jefferson, but he made lovely pronouncements.

Dwight Eisenhower “Politics ought to be the part-time profession of every citizen who would protect the rights and privileges of free men.”
Eleanor Roosevelt “Our children should learn the general framework of their government and then they should know where they come in contact with the government, where it touches their daily lives and where their influence is exerted on the government.
It must not be a distant thing, someone else’s business, but they must see how every cog in the wheel of a democracy is important and bears its share of responsibility for the smooth running of the entire machine.”
(Eleanor Roosevelt sounds as if she was a valuable wife to Theodore and a shining light to the USA who should replace the statue of liberty’s one – which has gold on it. Eleanor cast light on verities with lack of pretension, and sincere kindness and practicality.)
Does the Statue of Liberty torch light?
Liberty 135 | Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island
The Statue’s torch is a symbol of enlightenment, lighting the way to freedom and showing us the path to Liberty. The current torch, which was replaced in 1986 during the Statue’s centennial restoration, has a copper flame covered in 24K gold. It reflects the sun’s rays in daytime and is lit by 16 floodlights at night.

It’s been clear to many of us observers for years that he was losing his faculties, but to state that was an apostasy according to the Democrat media machine.
How they lie!!!
So now the cat is out of the bag and they’re scrambling. Instead they have to promote the dead-set useless Kamala Harris.
Best of luck with that!
Although I find Trump lacking, Joe Biden was making major mile stones to senility when he was accused of being merely sleepy. Harris is a voted-in state lawyer who ticks boxes. Hilary Clinton had real talent but lost.
Rampant ageism on this site is disappointing. It is not as if Trump didn’t ef up his lines from time to time … but this is always conveniently glossed over. The odd struggle in the public eye is normal – look no further than the current government here to see regular gaffs and cognitive brain farts … but these are for younger folk. Once you get a little older, every odd little glitch is viewed as the ‘obvious cognitive decline’ – most of which is absolute BS
Most of the old folk have been in their exalted positions or working towards them for some time and have made plenty of other gaffes beside the present ones. The point is that there should be a finite length of time in politics say to 60 years. and definitely out by the time they are 70. Say buzz off whether one has managed to wangle a good pozzy with a nice salary to match that suits the negotiating and maneouvring skills of the polly, or not. If not the polly isn’t worth the money they are being paid. Otherwise it becomes an attraction just for the money as seen in the latest smartie darling.
