National’s Angry Speech
The misplaced anger at Labour to justify his venomous attack sounds desperate from a Leader as weak as Luxon is.
The slump in polling has been caused by voters recoiling in horror at the venal self interest of National taking from the poor to give to the richest.
All National have is a blame game against Labour to justify all the damage they’ve embarked upon, which is fine for angry rednecks but that electorate is limited and being split between Winston and David Seymour.
Luxon is fishing for votes in a crowded reactionary cracker pool.
There are only so many angry crackers to go around for the Right.
The danger of making a speech as angry as this is that it continues to chase away the centre who only see froth and spittle rather than actual solutions to their problems.
Blaming Labour when it’s National Party policy that is turning voters away is a totally missed opportunity.
They are being led by their social media team who are wanting inflammatory rhetoric rather than actual policy because inflammatory rhetoric generates more clickbait.
This was a TikTok speech when the electorate wanted a Statesman.
Green’s Visionary Speech
It really does say something that the youngest leader manages a speech that correctly identifies how the inequalities of late stage capitalism are impacting us now alongside the climate change crisis.
Chloe is the leader we wished Jacinda could have been.
Her speech had vision and connects the immediate while identifying the root cause of neoliberal corruption.
She rams home that poverty is a political choice (which it is) and highlights the manner in which the Right have manipulated the process to ram these changes through with zero oversight.

Marama gives the best speech of her entire political career. Chloe offered hope while Marama articulated righteous disdain at the venal interests on the Right. She reiterated the means with which the wealthy bought the last election and the damage this is causing everyone.
This leadership team looked far stronger than anything else in NZ Politics right now. Two leaders able to articulate an authentic vision that actually highlights the real problems confronting us now.

By 2050 the Planet will have melted making carbon neutrality a moot point, people are hurting now and all Chippy has is ‘hold on until 2040’ as a solution?

Greens point out the neoliberal system that Labour and National have both benefited from are the problem.
