When these two are the answer the question is, "who can make the current situation far, far, far worse"

The right wing blitzkrieg just keeps coming…

Govt axes kids, youth public transport discounts funding

The Government will stop funding free public transport for children and half-price fares for young people under 25 by the end of next month.

Hundreds of thousands of people will be affected by the move, which raises the cost of bus, train, and ferry fares amid ongoing cost of living pressure.

For most regions, age-based public transport fares will change on May 1.

..when we need more investment into public transport infrastructure, when we should be countering the cost of living crisis while incentivising its use by making public transport free, when we are facing economic crunches and climate change consequences, scrapping public transport subsidies is the last bloody thing we should be doing!

Just add this to the long list of damage this Government is passing as social policy.

  1. Has any one asked who paid for Luxons xmas pissup with the whanau .I doubt his mrs would have cooked and cleaned for 25 parasites .I suspect it would have meant staff had to give up xmas with their own whanau to wait on the skin head and his new recruits into the mob. Then all the expenses would have gone on the company credit card and the staff would have been paid by the paliamentary services

  2. NZ (even Auckland) doesn’t have sufficient population density for viable public transport. Factually, having a bus drive round with 2 people on it, is far worse for the environment than having each passenger drive a car. Public transport needs to be reliable, on time, and have a short enough roll over that if you miss it, you can just wait for the next one and not have your day ruined. There is no way to make that viable (wrt to cost and fuel consumption) in a city with a low population density (like Auckland).
