Gaza Strip

Air strikes: Heavy aerial bombardment on buildings, homes and many facilities.

Attacks: All over Gaza, there are air strikes, heavy gunfire, tank and artillery shelling, as well as missiles fired from Israeli forces and military occupation, especially in Khan Yunis. The Israeli Navy continues to fire missiles, targeting facilities and buildings along the shoreline of the whole of Gaza.

Victims: 86 people killed in Gaza brings the total number of deaths since 7 October to at least 29,692. With another 131 wounded, that has risen to 69,879. Fully accurate statistics are not available, due to insecurity menacing hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

Human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including

East Jerusalem, and the obligation to ensure accountability and justice

Just two examples of Israeli war crimes:

Strikes on the Jabalia Refugee Camp and al-Yarmouk in Gaza City, involved the use of explosive weapons with wide-area effects in densely populated areas. The strikes resulted in enormous destruction, and, according to reports, no warning was given nor any effort made to evacuate residential buildings prior to the strikes. OHCHR verified a combined 153 deaths in the attacks, but the number could be as high as 243.

As the United Nations High Commissioner Volker Türk observed “Launching an indiscriminate attack resulting in death or injury to civilians, or an attack in the knowledge that it will cause excessive incidental civilian loss, injury or damage, are war crimes.”

Leslie Bravery
Leslie Bravery is a Londoner with vivid World War Two memories of the Nazi blitz on his home town. In 1947/1948 His father explained to him what was happening to the Palestinians thus: “Any ideology or political movement that creates refugees in the process of realising its ambitions must be inhuman and should be opposed and condemned as unacceptable.” What followed confirmed this assessment of the Zionist entity a hundredfold. Now a retired flamenco guitarist, with a lifelong interest in the tragedy of what happened to the Palestinian people, he tries to publicise their plight. Because the daily injustices they suffer barely get a mention in the mainstream news media, Leslie edits/compiles a daily newsletter, In Occupied Palestine, for the Palestine Human Rights Campaign. These days, to preserve his sanity, he enjoys taking part in a drama group whenever possible!

    • Please name source of your meaningful abbreviated comment? And is it just a bot? A programmed response that is a carryover from a fascist racist one of the past? If not you are guilty of tautology, and I am sick of reading the same inane thing from yu. It is an insult to all the intelligent Jews that are here or in Israel. Probably Leslie is too polite and understanding but I have had more than enough of you minimalising this important matter You may or not have connections to it, but this is ongoing and is a weeping sore. It can’t just be yawned over.

  1. Uh oh I’m jumping the queue here – how queer to apparently not be first. Won’t last long I guess.
I was thinking about Israel and how the Jews there have sort of made their own type of concentration camp.
As far as concentration is concerned it fits that word. As for the camp, the authorities demand extreme obedience and will punish if not. How does this look to you?

Norway has granted Israeli nuclear secret-spiller Mordechai Vanunu permission to immigrate so he can be united with his Norwegian wife.
Vanunu’s wife, Kristin Joachimsen, told Norway’s TV2 channel Friday the couple requested family reunification after they wed in May 2015. Norway’s Directorate of Immigration confirmed permission had been granted.
Joachimsen, a theology professor, said: “Family values have prevailed.”
It wasn’t clear when or whether he would be allowed to relocate, however. Vanunu is banned by Israel from leaving the country.
On Sunday, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry could not say if Vanunu had made a new request to travel to Norway. But he said restrictions on the the leaker’s freedom of movement were “due to the danger that he posed” to the Jewish state.
