Support for Christopher Luxon drops, NZ First overtakes Act in new poll
Support for Christopher Luxon has fallen in the first poll since he took office, dropping three points in the preferred prime minister poll to 30 per cent, down from 33 per cent in November.
Comparing this Poll with the actual election night result is interesting.
National: Election result 38.08% vs 36.5%
Labour: Election result 26.9% vs 28.8%
Greens: Election result 11.6% vs 10.8%
NZ First: Election result 6.08% vs 8.1%
ACT: Election result 8.64% vs 6.2%
TePati Māori: Election result 3.08% vs 5%
What I think we will see is National voters who voted Labour in 2020 are watching what their vote has spawned in the form of this hard right racist Government and are quickly walking back to Chippy.
Meanwhile, the new Conspiracy Swamp Kingdom Winston now rules over is demanding crazier and crazier stunts from their new messiah, although as Toby Manhire notes in an excellent piece of journalism over at the Spinoff, that Swamp Kingdom is already threatening to engulf NZ First!
Winston’s antivaxx, climate denial Q Zealand shtick is sucking in more sub 5% supporters and the really racist element from ACT.
Seymour’s ACT Party are rapidly losing steam as voters who had virtue signalled their anger at Labour by voting ACT are horrified at what they have inadvertently enabled and are quietly leaving the party.
The Greens haven’t done poorly in this but the Māori Party have caught a genuine wave of support from voters who didn’t vote last election.
We will see the crazy continue to solidify around NZ First but every conspiracy voter he gains, National and ACT lose 2 voters each.
It will be NZ First’s Q Zealand nuttiness that attracts the simple and disgusts the rational.
They have already forgotten this…

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice going into this pandemic and 2020 election – please donate here.

Democracy – the wisdom of crowds in action.
Not as funny as a French farce – often they are based on bedroom romps which appeal so much more as being closer to our hearts and minds. These gimlet-eyed meisters and mistresses in gummint and uncivil admin and PPP are too hard to swallow; let them return to Capistrano and leave us alone just looking at each other and saying ‘What next, we can do better than this. Let’s tap into that old Kiwi Spirit together, discuss, show plans, check for best aspects, worth, value, affordability, local considerations – anyone got better idea for each stage? Okay here’s how we tackle it!’
Chippy probably won’t be there next time around. Even so, the Greens and Te Pati Maori behaving like High School escapees are far from confidence inspiring, and devalue Parliament.
And I suppose you think them asking serious questions only to be ridiculed by National ministers is not devaluing, demeaning and frankly embarrassing by the heads of state?
Give yourself and uppercut GA and have a good long drag on your cancer stick.
I do hope Chippy goes though so that Labour goes to the left. Chippys policies no different from Nationals.
You just dont like queer liberated women. That is your problem. Plus you hate trade unions, free healthcare and public ownership.
Oh Gentle Annie you think the Greens are de valuing parliament. The whole bloody government is devaluing parliament especially Winston Peters who is getting away with murder. I also don’t see much hope with Gerry Brownlee as speaker he is hopeless and he is allowing the government to spout party political broadcasts instead of answering questions.
If anyone is devaluing parliament Annie its NZF and Gerry Brownleaf the speaker.
Brownlee’s not once said “I’m on my feet” CIP, because that would require effort and no one gets his size by actually doing things.
Fingers crossed we can make this a one term government!
Poll tells us NZ First on the way to 20%
2.0%. When Winnie dies( not too far away) his extremist followers like yourself will have no home.
I predict that post will age as well as this:
https://www.newshub.co.nz/home/politics/2023/05/election-2023-brian-tamaki-s-umbrella-party-believes-they-could-get-20-percent-of-vote.html
Yeah, like that happened. Despite his own opinion Tamaki isn’t as *nearly* as popular as he thinks he is. Ditto NZ First. If Winston keeled over tomorrow NZ First would cease to exist as a party not long after. He is the party, with no heir apparent.
Government ministers go to line ” were taking advice”
Which when translated means we haven’t got a clue and when it all fails we will blame somebody else.
