What we are facing this election is an existential crisis of Crony capitalism, privatisation and far right social policy – weep fellow Kiwi, weep

You know the only winners in National’s road, road, roads policy?

The oil companies.

By moving away from petrol charges to miles driven, National hand the petrol companies a huge win and when you consider the early signals of the vast crony capitalism National are about to embark upon…

…we face an orgy of privatisation and crony capitalism!

Dr Bryce Edwards devastating critique into who is donating to National and the disgusting level of self interest is remarkable and shocking!

Alongside this orgy, National are lining up Public Private Partnership scams, removing foreign buyer bans and opening the I’m migration floodgates.

National’s only economic plan is to open the country to foreign buyers, slash the State and privatise the rest.

The rich, the 1% and the Billionaire class have donated $12million in donations to ACT and National since 2021.

They aren’t doing that for you and me!

The Crony Capitalism National will unleash will make Labour’s sins look childish in comparison.

National will hack at the State to carve out deals for their mates while ACT will hack at the State for ideological purity.

National are funding their tax cut (that will benefit rich landlords most) by taking away 20 hours ECE for 2 year olds, mutilating public transport and stealing from climate funds.

It is an outrageous transfer of wealth to rich landlords.

National claim it’s for the ‘squeezed middle’ when it’s far more destructive than that, it stamps on the poor!

Matthew Hooton’s analysis of National’s budget is scathing

National concedes savings alone won’t fund its tax cuts, so also announced four new taxes. None applies to tax-exempt “charities” such as Go Bus, Shotover Jet, Sanitarium and Mission Estate Winery.

The first new tax, which National developed with assistance from Auckland’s Sky City Casino, is on offshore gambling websites. Labour says it already taxes them, collecting nearly $40 million a year in GST.

The second new tax is charging foreigners higher visa fees.

These two would raise a few hundred million dollars.

The third is bigger, which is reversing Labour’s Covid-era tax break for commercial property investors, forecast to raise just over $2b over the next four years.

The fourth is the proposed tax on foreign buyers purchasing properties worth over $2m.

The tax won’t apply to Australians, Singaporeans and perhaps citizens of other countries with which New Zealand has tax and trade treaties, but National says it will bring in $3b.

For that to be true, foreigners from countries other than Australia, Singapore and so forth would need to buy around $20b of houses over the next four years.

That’s more than 6000 houses with an average value of $3m. That assumption seems heroic, even if encouraging people to sell houses to foreigners to fund tax cuts is a good idea.

…National’s budget is bullshit, based on wildly crazed assumptions which fundamentally rely on cutting services to the poor so their rich Landlord mates get a tax subsidy of $250 a fortnight!

When you consider how much money the Real Estate Pimps have poured into National, we don’t have a democracy, we have an auction.

They will remove the foreign buyers ban to create another property bubble that will lock even more Kiwis out of home ownership!

We have an undeclared class war occurring right before our eyes, a naked manifesto of self interest at the deficit of the poorest and voters will give National and ACT this driven by a sense of vengeance against Labour for navigating us through Covid.

3283 – NZ (population 5m)

24755 – Sweden (10m)

9162 – Ireland (5m)

191211 – Italy (59m)

Those are the numbers.

That’s how many died from Covid and the population of each nation, compared to Ireland we are talking about 6000 lives difference.

That’s the price we sacrificed to protect as many people as we could, to leave no one behind.

What National are arguing for is to leave us behind.

To fund tax cuts from the poorest while raiding climate change funds isn’t a tax policy, it’s political vandalism!

This country is about to plunge into steep economic crisis, taking from the poorest to shield the richest is obscene and there is a price to pay for this.

Labour and the Greens have been woeful, but sweet Jesus them on a bad day is better than National and ACT on a good day.

Any day.

  1. About now all most people will be hearing is white noise. Politicians bickering, National are cutting tax by a big amount, Labour promising something in 2026 or 2029 to go with their other yet to be seen promises, angry punters heckling politicians, the rest, invisible. Their minds will be long made up and short of Winston having candidates who are next level Cuckoo – scenario, they won’t be changing them!

Whatever National or ACT do and why is purely down to the clusterfuck mess created by this government on so so many levels. And to vote for these fools, again, we’ve got to pretend Labour will suddenly get competent, reinstate one person one vote, cut the woke ideology and believe in Santa Claus. And none of that is going to happen!

    • Yeah, but hang on a minute? Jesus Christ @ x-ray. Your medieval logic is depressing.
Labour, this Labour, isn’t Labour. You really fucking need to wake up to that.
This Labour, this current version ISN’T the original, people-first Labour. This Labour, Chippies Labour, is an apendage of National as much as ACT is. And I’d go so far as to write; so is NZ first, the green party and the Maori Party. And on the subject of the Maori Party. @ Maori? The Maori Party isn’t about you and your cultural rights, requirements and your
Turangawaewae, your sacrosanct place to stand. The Maori Party is just like the National and ACT parties who are the same fucking thing. They’re only about the money. The National Party and ex Labour finance minister AKA far Right roger and ACT are the exact same thing. Roger and his bestie derek quigly created ACT after killing off Lange. The MMP parties were merely designed to be buffer zones to weaken any Left wing attack because they, roger and his now neo-liberal National party cronies would have suspected proper resistance which they believed would certainly come but even they underestimated the sheer dumbness and blank-stare stupidity of the general voting public. Instead we get privatised thus monetised rugby, beer and domestic violence.
The literal and actual truth of the matter is, it doesn’t matter AT ALL who you vote for. You will always get the same fuckin’ thing man. ( Cheers Janice Joplin.)
I could argue that what we have, in the broadest context, is slavery. We’re all fucking slaves but without the need for shackles and bread and water. I would further argue that roger douglas and his criminal cronies are contemporary slavers who’ve bought, by privatisation our state owned ( Tax payer paid for ) stuff and things and in so doing, sold us into slavery to vast corporate entities which we have no defence against. But do most people even dare to challenge their own preconceptions of what this fake-vote pretension is? They just mumble to the open gate that they think leads them to greener pastures but it in fact it leads all the way to the freezing works. Mind you, there’s something to be said for blissful ignorance and Christ only knows that’s what we are.

    • Yep the bottom line is “oppositions don’t win elections, governments lose them”

Labours lies, lack of implementation (probably a blessing) and all round incompetence has caught up with them.

I read the Stuff article on the dental policy (a policy that the media haven’t really dig too hard into) and nearly every comment was negative.. And this was Stuff!!! Once you’ve lost the woke readers on Stuff you have to wonder where you’re support is going to come from.

Hipkins telling everyone that no one was forced to take the vaccine highlights the arrogance of the man. He probably looks at NZs vaccine rates and thinks every vaccine taker did so happily. His illusion of reality is clouded by his Wellington echo chamber.

    • “reinstate one person one vote”

Sooo…. where and when do I get to vote twice? And when did this become a thing? When did it pass through parliament? Being a dumb hori, is it allowed for me to get help filling out the two forms?

      Dickhead.

  2. And yet their still their unelectable because change is required, no matter how bad its perceived to be.
The fact National will be worse is purely academic.

      • If you are going to be so literary as to quote Oliver Cromwell, at least try to get ‘your’ and “you’re” correct. And the LAW of punctuation requires an apostrophe before the ‘s’ on ‘Parliaments’.

I suggest you change your pseudonym to ‘Chaotic Collapse’.

  3. I completely agree with you Martyn.

I am a “woke” poet; communist; semi-retired revolutionary; mostly Pākehā, slightly Ngāti Kahungunu.

Clearly life is worth nothing, but death is still profitable. What interest does capitalism have in helping us to not die???
