New Poll: ACT & Greens soar???

Latest Taxpayers Union Poll is out and it’s bloody odd.

Normally Farrar’s Curia Poll is very good, he has a devastating insight but this Poll is really weird…

…the Greens on 12.4%???

It just seems so undeserved, the Greens have stumbled upon the greatest strategy, if they shut up and don’t say their usual alienating middle class woke bullshit, voters love them!

I think what Farrar is picking up on is something TDB has been warning for some time and that is an intense polarisation of NZ politics and the most extreme ends of the spectrum are ACT and Greens.

It still sets either the Māori Party or NZ First up as a king or queen maker come 2023, but I think what it really tells us is that the Greens and ACT will play a bigger roll in 2023 than they previously have.

In such a line up, Chloe has the skill and talent to go one on one with Seymour, Marama and Shaw doesn’t.

  1. Labour won’t be breathing a sigh of relief. It’s another poll that they are solidly in the mid 30s. It wasn’t long ago they were in the high 40s. The slide continues. The gap between left and right is 2% – well within the margin for error and the anti vax vote.

    • Hmmm, Andrew.

That “Shy-Tory” comment is a little cryptic.
Do you mean that National and ACT voting New Zealanders are too shy to tell pollsters how they’ll vote.
Do ACT voters fear that their fellow right-whingers might think they have it “in the bag” and stay home on election day 2023?

It’s a right-wing poll, by Farrar and Mr Zippy’s Taxpayers Union. They are hardly going to be hacking a union membership list and ringing everyone on the hacked list asking ‘patsy, right-leaning’ questions and opinions of Greens and Labour voters.

Print a list of the questions they asked and publish them here on this website!
Let us know the sample size and margin of error!
How were the questions asked mobile numbers? Landline? Email?
Standing on the corner of Gillies Ave outside ACT offices?

This Mr Zippy poll is as genuine as Judith Collins and Emma Mellow having their walkabout among real, live National Party pedestrians during 2020 election

      https://www.1news.co.nz/2020/10/07/opinion-nationals-staged-walkabout-in-auckland-cheeky-and-clumsy-says-1-news-political-reporter/

Another dirty politics cunning stunt by Collins and the National Party’s dirty politics branch.

  2. Polls don’t mean much till we get much closer to the election at the moment many NZers are suffering from Covid fatigue.

    • They create a narrative. The narrative is now that Labour is on the slide. When it comes to this country slides are notoriously difficult to arrest. Normally they coincide with voter fatigue. I dare say it is not covid fatigue but rather Jacinda fatigue that is the issue.

The one trick pony went to the well one time too many………

      • Frank the empty tank: your right-wing wishful thinking is becoming tiresome. You are wasting an awful lot of energy here on this site. In your place. i would give up unless someone were paying me.

    • I note that newspapers, radio and TV news made no reference to the fact that Jacinda was on 39% preferred PM while luxon was on 26%.
I also see that the Natz dirty politics team are spreading rumors’ about Clark Gayford again. how low and cowardly. I heard that right wing hate Jacinda misogynist Russell on tory talk ZB was “only asking questions ” with conspiracy theories last night.
Luxon has no charisma and with that fool Bishop next to him look like laurel & hardy.

  3. For politics followers the rule of thumb is that polls are great when they support your own world view, and dastardly flawed bollocks when they don’t.

There is less publicly released polling done these days compared to 10 years or even 5 years ago. Online and internal polling and focus group surveying is done behind the scenes. What does it all mean? Beats me sometimes, but one thing is for sure; time waits for no one so boomers will no longer dominate numerically in General Elections. The boomer influence will dissipate the quicker new gens start to participate politically, register and vote.

And boomers are not a homogeneous group. Thousands are graspers with multiple properties and superfunds, but thousands also live precariously–flatting and living in camper vans in their 60s and beyond.

NZ has always had a polarised political divide with our high incidence of self employed and small business culture. COVID showed that didn’t it, with cafe and tourist operators squealing daily for two years on end. Harden up you whingers it is called capitalism–the working class have felt the fear for ever through exploitation and redundancies.

Greens should be growing as a brand regardless of what our esteemed Editor thinks of them. ACT should have been exterminated long ago but Natzos gave them a lifeline in Paul Goldsmith’s electorate, though the world wide resurgence of fascism does give ACT a second life in the digital era.

    • Those boomers you sneer at with property and super funds are actually a success story . They have money to send keeping people employed . They have funds to pay medical insurance so are not a drain on social services. Many retire and help mentor young people to carry on the success they had or do other volenteering.
      Political
ly the Greens in their present form have little to offer to progress the normal people in this country who are busy surviving the pressures of existing from day to day . They do not have time for all their PC crap and the fact they are doing little for the enviroment dispite their name. Many had great hopes for what they could do once in power but little has been achieved.
Act are not my party of choice either but obviously are a voice for a certain sector of the public.

      • no your wrong as we hit peak boomer retirement consumption is going to plummet as boomer behavior changes add to that the boomers have to cash up and off load there asset either x or the millennials or z have the money to buy those assets at the current price in a functional market there needs to be a correction personally i think the property bubble has already popped and who has most of new zealands housing debt boomers there greed may have putined there retirements

      • Jesus, which upmarket retirement village do you live in, subsidised by the taxpayers of course, despite your comfortable wealth. No doubt your ‘good fortune’ is made on the backs of those you obviously despise.
Never mind, Luxon will have a place in heaven for you, as he continues his off the cuff utterances and increasingly issues more stupid and un-researched statements by the day.

        • My good fortune came about by working sometimes up to 100 hrs a week and on the way I employed many workers always at well over minimum pay . At this stage I am not in a retirement village up I can assure you there is little taxpayer subsidiary in their fees

  4. One thing to realise is that polls no longer seem to be very accurate.

    Think OZ elections, Trump, Brexit….

A lot of manipulation of the polls and less people giving their true opinions on who they are supporting and (probably) less people voting as increasingly politicians across the board seem out of touch of what society really wants, and less people decide to vote.

  5. It’s a dud poll.

It was taken in two parts due to a covid event when they were in the middle of taking the poll!

    That’s not a poll! That’s two polls!

They should have not carried on. They should have started a new poll on their second attempt, as too much time had passed between polls. Events that happened in between the two polls may have influenced people being contacted in the second part of the polling.

    That is a corrupted poll.

  6. Meh. Who cares?
‘Voting’ in AO/NZ general elections is merely a quaint pastime. It’s the kind of bauble that distracts the masses when rugby, lotto and MSM guff no longer cuts the mustard.
We should remember? Just like Labour is the same as National, so too is ACT the same as The Greens.
So long as our farmers refuse to stupidly, ignorantly, countenance the idea of unity and so long as our city people bow down and acquiesce to the vicious shit handed out to them by the corporate bullies who now own what was once our state owned assets and amenities, our general election voting is as meaningless and absent as wee, corporate bend-over, jimmy shaw and mouse-face seymour’s personalities. No disrespect to the faces of mice intended btw.

  7. People who care about the planet and about social issues vote Left.
People who love business more than people vote Right.
The problem is we have no real Left party to vote for.

  8. all polls are bullshit…if there’s ONE thing brexit/trump should have taught us, people lie to pollsters…
ie– are you in favour of CGT, well no one wants to appear a selfish dick so answer ‘yes I’m in favour of CGT but then vote nat cos you’re a homeowner….this applies to all parties on all issues

YOU’D BE BETTER OFF DISEMBOWLING A CHICKEN LOOKING FOR A PREDICTION

    • If they used the power of the government and actually went out and built houses, rent to buy, create a housing build department type of thing, they’d get my vote back.

But we just know they won’t do diddle squat.

  9. IMO It should be considered a good thing that people are looking outside the Labour/National (“Natbour”?) historical duopoly that brought us here thanks to the last 40 years of neoliberal concensus.

I mean, we have an electoral system that offers great opportunities for tactical voting that brings many voices into the house – including those that challenge the accepted orthodoxy.

The problem is the electorate has had a largely 2-party mindset (a hangover from the FPP era?) – especially the swing voters. I’ll be happy to see that firmly change.

      • Beware the asinine statement: “I don’t think right wing and left wing mean anything any more.”
A much used meme from the 1980s and 1990s when right-wingers had the upper hand..
It means they don’t want ordinary people to know anything of history, and what right-wing and left-wing mean.
Someone said that those who do not learn the lessons of history are condemned to repeat them.
Being a dimwit is not good for your welfare.
Read up on the history, young folk.

  10. “Normally Farrar’s Curia Poll is very good, he has a devastating insight?” A poll is a poll. Surely the pollster’s insight (or lack of it) isn’t reflected in the numbers.

One thing for sure. Polls reflect what people say to pollsters. Poll results show what people say on a certain day to certain questions. They don’t necessarily show what they are thinking or how they would act if they were to put a tick on a ballot right then and there.

We should stop acting as if polls were some sort of finite, exact, pure, gospel rather than just indicators. Indicators of what?

  11. A dud poll. Why?

    Because it is two polls!

The polling period was March 2–7 and 14–15. Interrupted by Covid, my arse!

The first poll in the 2nd to 7th period was probably not reflecting what they wanted so made up a fake covid call. A 7-day gap between these two polls is beyond the realm of reliable & compliant with being a legitimate poll.

  12. Taxpayer’s Union Poll, Right-wing shills, another branch of Dirty Politics.

    https://www.theguardian.com/science/blog/2010/sep/29/statistics-lies-abuse
It is the British prime minister Benjamin Disraeli who is famously credited with the phrase: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics” but the expression has been around almost as long as the word statistics (first coined in 1749 for those wondering). What is it about numerical data that sparks such distrust in people?

I did a poll of my friends, who are still alive because of the fantastic work Jacinda, health experts and modelers did.

100% of them would rather have had Labour and Jacinda in charge of Covid defences.
0% of them trust ACT and National, who wanted Air BnB operators to run MIQ
100% of my friends think Jordan Williams makes a better Mr Zippy, than a Mr Pollster.

Sorted. BTW Martyn, you are welcome to these statistics, free of charge.

  13. And by the way, these Tory right-wing-dirty politics-polls are just one of many branches of manipulation. Another is and undermining of democracy; misogyny: hate-speech Sleepyhead director Craig Turner.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/127955922/calls-for-sleepyhead-boycott-after-director-shares-racist-email

And Mr Turner, just happens to be a major donor for ACT Party. No surprises there then!
    https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/politics/act-party-donations-drive-nets-almost-1-million-from-rich-listers/TC65IND7DIGN6GIMQAK3IGYTQ4/

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!” (Sir Walter Scott, 1808)

100% of people I polled agreed that this was anther branch of Dirty Politics.
100% of people I polled agreed that he should resign his position, and go and have a lie down.

He’ll get a job and a knighthood when ACT and National are elected.

  14. ” Labour will be breathing a sigh of relief ”

No relief for poor New Zealanders , no relief for wage slave’s and their families , no relief for so many kiwis being extorted by tax greedy governments and parasitic supermarkets and fuel companies. No relief for so many of our elderly who can only afford to eat pet food or pay their power bill. No relief for a huge number of families with children who are denied the basics they are ENTITLED TO instead of the money going to rich pricks at the top. No relief from the LINO government that thinks that their supporters should be grateful !!!

    • Agree G-Guy. This poll is definitely one of many cogs, planned by the right and alt-right to destabilise NZ Politics.

This poll-cog showing the fringe parties growing, while the main parties equalise/lower, links with anti-mandate protests, Groundswell, ZB Magic Talk, My Cocksking, the trolls and shills here, like mosa and others.

Have you seem Martyn’s recent photo of Judith Collins and Winston Peters. Remember Winston. the other half of the Laurel and Hardy (David Seymour) Show at the recent anti-mandates convoy of hate protest. Judith prayed in church, on her knees for this protest, while Peters and Seymour tiptoed through the excrement, like Trump with a bible.

The creepy cog image of Luxon leering behind Jacinda, implies a vote for either is a vote for one and the same thing. https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2022/03/10/tvnz-shock-poll-winners-losers-predictions/

It’s classic Tory, right-wing divide and conquer tactics are play, in this Mr Zippy poll, as we’ve all seen with Russia’s influence during Brexit and the US Elections.

Mr Zippy’s poll peels off Greens from Labour, then it will be a full-on dirty politics attack on the Greens as we get closer to the 2023 election. Or earlier – watch this space.

Let’s make sure the investigation into the occupation of Wellington and Cranmer Square shows alt-right, Dirty Politics links.

It’ll be the same filth that born-to-rule National were caught out with their “Lose yourself” Eminem-esque theft of intellectual property: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2017/oct/25/eminem-wins-600000-after-new-zealand-political-party-breached-his-copyright

And when it is proven that Dirty Politics cogs are behind all this filth, the best thing Labour voters can do, is to buy sh!tloads of dildos to throw at National Party politicians on the campaign trail in the lead-up to the 2023 election. We want an armada of dildo, a squadron of dildos, a murmuration of dildos aimed at alt-right, dirty politics Nats when they are found to have been up to their knees in dirty politics.

      https://www.theguardian.com/film/video/2016/feb/16/john-oliver-cant-resist-new-zealand-mp-steven-joyces-dildogate-video

Chris Luxon – a head who is both a larger than life model, and a head badly in need of a well-flung perfectly-formed dildo. https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2022/02/16/new-poll-support-for-luxon-hardens-left-plus-vs-right-plus-plus-plus-in-2023-showdown/and whose

Polls, polls and Mr Zippy’s poll. Lies, lies and damned statistics.

  16. ‘Twas a great day when I helped vote Jeanette Fitzsimmons into the seat for Coromandel in the first MMP election. At least they pay lip service to the environment unlike any other party in NZ. I wish there was a hard right eco party to vote for – one reason I’d vote conservative is for err conservation.

  17. there’s only one poll that counts and that strangely enough happens on polling day.

.the rest is hot air and something to fill in a slow news day.
