Protest convoy heading to Wellington

Police are monitoring Covid-19 protest convoys heading towards Wellington from both ends of New Zealand.

A spokesperson said they are not following the convoy, but are watching out for any issues using CCTV and units already on the ground.

All kinds of motor vehicles from trucks to cars and campervans are travelling the length of the country to meet in Wellington in protest against Covid-19 vaccine rules and public health measures.

“We are fighting for New Zealand’s freedom,” read a poster on the Convoy 2022 NZ Facebook page.

The funniest thing has been the infiltration of these feral lunatics by people with a sense of humour...

Not only were social media groups infiltrated, but a Spotify playlist the convoy organisers made for others to add “good tunes to drive to” was taken over by people who opposed the protesters.

“Some people are adding some really disgusting music (don’t think you can call it music). I’m guessing [it’s] people that don’t agree with the convoy because they have nothing better to do,” one person said.

Songs that were added by those opposing the convoy included ‘Redneck Piece of White Trash’ by Rebel Son, ‘Why Don’t You Get A Job’ by The Offspring, and ‘Dumb F**k’ by Peaches.

…these people voted for Billy TK, they believe Trump had the election stolen and they are by attacking the health mandates effectively on the side of the virus. They are attempting the same soft coup Canadian Truckers are invoking in Canada and the stench of American dark money runs throughout this.

What is becoming rapidly apparent with the Qanon lunatic anti Vaxxer fringe movement in NZ is that the same dark money from the American Christian Right is being used to support it.  With America pivoting to the Pacific, are we seeing the same CIA dirty tricks they played in South America in the 70s to destabilize and prop up authoritarian regimes or is this dark money a cultural mutation from Steve Bannon’s America?

There needs to be as much attention on America’s influence in our politics as there is on China’s influence.

The radicalization of the unvaccinated will reach fever pitch as the economic ramifications of being sacked from a job for refusing the vaccine starts to bite deeply and we are seeing that with these lunatics.

‘Kiwis supporting the virus’ is the sort of plague that doesn’t have a cure.

    They’ve also got a point. Omicron has made the case for mandates pretty much redundant. So certainly they’re doing far more harm than good at this stage.

  5. Hate to tell ya…but the covid narrative is falling apart WORLDWIDE. Many countries have dropped the mandates, and opened up. NZ is far behind the times, and Ardern hasn’t “saved any lives.” So wake up people – time to take the country back.

      • Exactly stick to REAL science – balanced science – any scientist with a different point of view has been censored – anywhere around the world. Doctors in NZ who a worried about side effect from the ‘jabs’ and have asked questions are loosing their jobs. WAKE up this is not about far left or right it is about intelligent people who have done their research not wanting the jab. This is about Democracy and informed consent – were you asked to sign a piece of paper when you had your jab giving informed consent – No of course not and that is the ruling with any experimental study. Cos people that is what this is everyone having the jab is part of a study. By the way for those of who who are interested in the science there are a couple of ‘real’ vaccines going through trials one is a company called Valneva and the other Novavax – both whole virus vaccines (as traditional) not just the spike. Sadly anyone thinking this convoy is is anything other than people trying to uphold their freedom of choice before all that is taken away from us, is mistaken – find out the real science and respect everyone

  6. These people all have a right to vote at the next election. We know what happened in the US when Hillary mocked “the deplorables”. In the current climate 75% of 7% of the population is an election turner.

    • I am not sure what you mean Frank? Presumably Hilary, as in the candidate looking for votes, was doing the mocking. Our PM goes out of her way not to mock or belittle. Even when that feral creature in Northland ran her off the road.

      In any case those votes will have been lost with or without mockery. Kind of ironic as the other main political parties would have done lots of the same things ( except wait until 90% coverage)

  9. The anti vaxxers are becoming very frightened now because Omicron is on the rampage and a large percentage of them will become very sick indeed. This is a big reason why they are putting on such a performance with this convoy. A way of venting their fear by being abusive and macho. The death stats overseas are not pretty and people can become very ill with Omicron if they haven’t had vaccines for immunity. Even deluded as they are they cannot deny the human toll this disease has wrought upon the unfortunates who have died or been seriously ill with long covid for a lot of them. Poor delusioned people, if they weren’t so obnoxious one could feel pity for them.

  10. The overaching point here is freedom of choice. Those who wish not to be vaccinated scream that somehow this freedom is not available to them, a position that is manifestly incorrect.
    Everyone is free to make a choice in the matter of vaccination. What these people seem to be wanting (at least in my view) is to have freedom from the consequences arising from their choice. This is a poor position to adopt as these consequences are well known, having been clearly and repeatedly communicated. So I say protest as much as you like on freedom of choice and enjoy my support of your right to so,but do not expect that choice to be free of consequence.
    The “freedom” to make any choice without consequence is not freedom at all, it is FREEDUMB. Or anarchy.
    We have a social contract that allows dissent and choice, as participants in this we must accept CONSEQUENCE arising from choice.

    • So many people seem to believe that freedom is to be able to make choices that are detrimental to others and then have no personal consequences from those choices.

    The “Happenings & Grapevine in Kaitaia & Far North” community FB group with 20,000 members (obviously some out of area) put up the Anti Vaccination “Convoy” event poster. Now this petrol guzzling event proclaims it stands for free speech and democratic rights.

    But, the admin of the page Toni Burren, blocked comments on the issue. Us pro vaccination people could not debate the alleged freedom fighters on the local community online noticeboard! This page is notorious for being pro Nat and religious nutter along side the events and lost dogs, while proclaiming neutrality.

      Every time I go to the supermarket or the pharmacy etc. I so feel for the young people toiling at checkouts behind irascible face-masks; “this is wrong”, I think to myself. Checkout operators, nurses, receptionists, all under-valued and under-paid but keeping our lives ticking over.

    The convoy turnout is huge!!! Thousands of vehicles and even more supporters in every suburb, absolutely buzzing! Amazing ability to unite and organise themselves with a few days notice.

  32. Silly question but I can’t see much at all in the MSM about this protest and certainly nothing during the 5pm news on the radio. So is this really just a storm in the tea cup non event by some fringe group of weirdos? If so why are we discussing it and not talking about more worthwhile?

  39. I’m pro-vaccine, and the Freedom Convoy NZ is large because it contains many people who have been vaccinated but prefer to maintain privacy over their health information.
