What’s this?

Opposition leader Todd Muller puts family at front of values

Opposition leader Todd Muller has placed family values front and centre leading into the upcoming election, leaning on his traditional Catholic upbringing.

Muller was addressing a crowd of National supporters in his home town of Te Puna on Sunday to launch his election campaign. He borrowed phrases from his political opponent Jacinda Ardern.

“As someone else said, ‘Let’s do this’,” he said.

“Sure, but you need a National party to get it done.”

The fourth Muller reset after his nightmare first week train wreck?

The first reset was Meek Muller in the Speaking Chamber trying to painfully reason things he thought was reasonable. Jacinda wiped the floor with him.

The second reset was the rushed cash for new jobs policy which failed to appreciate that post pandemic companies aren’t boldly expanding, they are cautiously tying everything that might move down. Bosses want to know how to pay for the staff they have, not plan for new jobs they can’t see.

The third reset was the tourism policy which misreads the problem. National will put up extra cash if you can pitch a good idea to bring tourists here, the problem of course is that we won’t need any extra reason to get tourists here because everyone with wealth wants to holiday in a plague free country, the problem for tourism is the lack of quarantine infrastructure and tracking of tourists once in the country.

So this is the fourth reset, which suggests an ongoing broken problem with brand Muller. We have yet to hear anything that explains why Muller should be leader, he can’t even convincingly pull off the vacant optimism that Key wielded so effectively.

This family values schtick works on a panicked electorate when the role being offered up is protector father figure, but Muller is way too frightened of sparking a gender role telling off from Nikki Kaye to ever push a positive patriarchal archetype.

So Muller can’t even manage the authority to pull off being the nations friendly step dad routine while talking endlessly about family values.

Who is National appealing to electorally with this limp leadership? Who is this supposed to be exciting enough to get a vote in 3 months time?

Each passing week simply manages to ask the question, ‘why is Todd Muller the leader of the National Party’.

Why has Matthew Hooton destroyed his media commentary career by backing this hot mess?

Why?

Increasingly having independent opinion in a mainstream media environment which mostly echo one another has become more important than ever, so if you value having an independent voice going into this pandemic and 2020 election – please donate here.

    • Because deep down Hooton is a good man trying to be bad, where as your Steve Banon types of this world are cut from the Devils clothe from inception.

    • Substance abuse.
I deal with people like this all the time. Random irrational behaviour and inability to see the destruction they cause themselves.

  1. Todd Muller really needs to take a serious look at the words of one of his colleagues i.e one Paul Goldsmith especially in lets say family values and of course HUMAN values.
Goldsmith did an excellent job at demeaning the NZ National Party by saying to Jacinda Ardern that she should keep to knitting.
Well if that is his(Goldsmith’s) opinion then it shows how poor as a representative of even the female voters in his electorate that he truly is.
A proper, adult and responsible person wouldn’t say such a thing unless he lived in say the time of Robert Muldoon and therefore had a lowly opinion of females anyway.
I look upon the NZ National Party as the Copy and Paste Party. That is they will forever Copy and Paste ideas and policies from others when it suits them. They can never figure out anything for themselves. It’s just way beyond their limited abilities to think outside of the square.
And the “square’ for National is always to blame everyone else but themselves for everything. It’s just what is so set in concrete for National. And it’s probably what they stupidly thinks will get them the votes at election time that they want.
The problem for National is they don’t have the answers except to resort to the tried and true blame games. They are like children in a schoolyard having permanent temper tantrums and never ever growing up out of it let alone learning from THEIR MISTAKES and taking responsibility for THEIR ACTIONS.

  2. “But he got his parties momentarily mixed up, transposing his own party for Labour when he told the audience – “I joined the Labour Party” – before quickly recovering to a round of applause.”

    Oh dear.

  3. Got to love the sop to the Tino Rangatiratanga flag…but

    Some Nat party person flew it upside down and this amongst other things means;

    Vessel in distress.
A very big insult those for whom the flag represents.
The person who flew it is in distress.
    A declaration of war.

    and a new one…

Idiots in charge of a political party!

This cannot have been an accident surely?

  4. Todd blushed when he realised he ‘wished’ he had joined Labour.
The colour in his neck was as red as a Labour Billboard.
As red as a MAGA hat.
Good to hear that Todd’s mentors and heroes are Sir John Key, Sir Bill English and a guy who almost swallowed an errantly-thrown and slightly-off-target dildo.
3 more white guys on his front bench.
Wasn’t John Key extolling the virtues of Chris Luxon?

Watching John Key horrifically undermine Simon Bridges is what you MUST SEE today By Martyn Bradbury – April 23, 2020

It seems like they are setting up Todd to fail, then hand over the reins to Chris Luxon after this year’s election.

  5. You need NATCCP to get things done?
    What, like housing affordability?
Or addressing what they termed the entrenched “underclass”?
What about their raising Kiwis wages, even to equal Australians?
    The Chch central city rebuild?
If you waited for that lot to get things done, you might need more than a rocking chair to sit back and wait if out, you may well need a bloody coffin.

  6. Lack of creativity is a BIG issue in NZ, the power interests keep rehashing everything again and again… not just business think, economic policy but also seemingly the politicians themselves…

This is continued by the non creative wokesters who represent the 2% and advise to their doom the leftie politicians, joined out by the the worn out political analysts of NZ whose names just keep coming back …. rehashing the same old ideas of neoliberalism from decades past.

Everything from Muller seems like we have heard before, but it’s getting more garbled… from his wanting to be president as a boy (like John key) to Catholic values and being boring (Bolger, Bill English).

Yep, stuff might have worked years ago, but people are not continually fooled… Natz delivering for NZ for 9 years has delivered and people don’t like what they see.. Same happened after Helen Clark, Labour was toast for years…

‘Popular’ MP’s get out of control with ego and think they are always right, and then tank society and their party brand going forward… Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair, Helen Clark, John Key…

It takes a while for the public to click onto what is going on… wasn’t Nixon was re-elected after Watergate, before resigning with the threat of impeachment?

With the Internet, dirty politics, things change quickly tho, anything can happen.

  7. So, if wannabe President ‘MAGA’ Todd Muller, bungles and burgles policies from Sir John and Sir Bill, then why does he tip his ‘MAGA’ hat to Stephen Joyce, aka ‘Dildo Baggins’?

Dodge, duck, weave, dodge and dive? It’s classic Dodge Ball.
“if you can dodge a spanner: you can dodge a dildo; you can dodge a longing to be a president (in the Labour Party); and dodge an upside down Tino Rangatiratanga flag.”

Will we see a National Party ABT coup, like the final days of ex-Labour Leader David-ABC-anyone-but- Cunliffe?

Who will be the scurrying Nats behind the ABT coup … probably be led by Sir John, Sir Bill, Stephen, Michelle and Judith. Labour have a think-tank, Nats have a carnivorous, incestuous shark-tank.

Todd could do, what David Shearer did, and bring something “fishy” into Parliament and be awarded the coup-de-grace by the ABS/ABT members of his soon-to-be, ex-party.

On the subject of fishy, dirty National Party politics…..(again) .. like an Eminem-esque ear-worm. Lose yourself…..to dirty politics (again)…

… Michael Woodhouse grabbed the fish tale by the gills and has already brought something fishy to the chamber already, when he played “gotcha-politics” by question-timing his new information that the two Covid transmitters, had cuddled and hugged some Samaritans in Auckland “according to his confirmed source on 16th June”.

But, which “dirty politics” spy ‘agency’ found out Woodhouse’s sleaze and dirty, Covid-esque “gotcha-moment”?

As soon as Woodhouse found out from his “unnamed source” of a breach of the quarantine rules, he should have contacted the Ministry of Health and Director General Bloomfield straight away, so that contact tracing could begin immediately.

Woodhouse gloated gleefully on Radio New Zealand this morning (18th June) that ‘it wasn’t his job to do the government’s job and tell the Director General Ashley Bloomfield.’

Woodhouse did NZ no favours, when he abandoned our team of 5 million and batted for the other team, of Covid-19-2.

Fishy, smelly and toady? Woodhouse – yep, caught, tagged, red-carded and banned to the back-benches …. no PM-shoulder-tap for you Michael, unless you are a sacrificial fish, post-Todd Muller and pre-Chris Luxon.
It begs the question, what will be the Nats slogan this election?

Bugger the 5 million, we have a point to make!
Never mind the stench, dirty blue politics as usual!
    Sleaze and dirt….business as usual!

Sounds more like the old-school, National Party’s Dirty Politics and “gotcha politics” … deja-vu all over again.
    Simon and the smelly money.
John Banks and Kim Dotcom’s rancid money.
John Key and the Panama Papers.
Whatever happened with Mossack Fonseca anyway?

National want the millions, but never seem to do the right thing to get it.

Just when you thought that dirty politics, slimy undercutting of quarantine rules and expectations was over and up pops a gloating, smarmy Michael Woodhouse. Gotcha!

5 million kiwis stayed indoors for Level 4, Level 3 and most of Level 2 and they deserve better from Woodhouse, from Muller and from the 14 other white members of the Nat. Party (plus Sir John, Sir Bill and Mr Bilbo cheerleaders and mentors).

We all know the Nats and ACT would have adopted the Swedish model for NZ ….. “herd of immunity?” FFS. Their primary colours are the same as the Swedish flag, and you know that under the NZ right-wing coalition, there would have been no level 4, 3, 2 or 1, just LEVEL ZERO-save-business-and-the-elite, survival of the bluest NATS, yellowest ACTS, and the dirtiest of the right wing in NZ.

Woeful Woodhouse waited a day and a half, to dob in a quarantine breakers to Parliament, and shows he won’t get the smelly-fish leader of National tap-on-the-shoulder soon. But, depending on his place on the list, he might be on the dole in the latter part of September. He is as culpable as the Govt appointed numptees who bungled the quarantine, test-track-trace team.

Time for a job change for Michael Woehouse (intended omission) into the fishing industry, where the stench of the betrayal of 5 million people, will be easy to hide.

Same old National, dirty politics to its core.

Thanks to the team of 5 million who eliminated Covid – well, 5 million, less a few hundred Nats (and ACT).

Any hint that Michael Woodhouse could possibly end up as health minister, is enough to send shivers up the spine of 5 million of us, less a few hundred Nats (and ACT).

Woehouse had the chance to contact Ashley, so as to immediately set in motion test, track and trace. Did Michael have an altruistic thought? Or did he grandstand for the other 14 white Nat MP’s (plus Paula Bennett)
