Auckland Mayoralty Daily Early Vote Update: returns so bad trend starts going backwards

The woeful turn out continues to plummet with returns so bad yesterday the trend started going backwards.

If Tamihere wins, this will be why.

Here’s what the early Auckland Mayoralty returns look like compared with the last 3 elections at the same stage in the election:

2010 – 22.6%
2013 – 14.6%
2016 – 16.71%

2019 – 12.81%

The gap between 2019 and the worst result this decade, 2013, is now opening up as daily returns in the current race dwindle. So far 136450 have voted in Auckland. There are 8 days left, unless there is an enormous late push we are aiming at maybe as little as a third of Auckland bothering to vote.

  1. Over three decades of anti-democratic behaviour by these neo-cons and this is the outcome.

An honest result, most people in Auckland no longer believe they live in a working democracy.

  2. oh yeah it’s just so co-incidental there is a measles epidemic which have families running petrified to the GP and forgetting where their voting papers are, not to mention the ghastliest flu yet to be unleashed on the populus… ahem,

  3. I reside in Rodney and was forced into Auckland super city , no consultation, just an arrogant dictatorship. I haven’t and will not vote in local body elections as I see no point in participating in a window dressing exercise.
There is no democracy here., let’s stop the pretense.
