Why are National promising $200m for cancer when they were the ones who shut the independent Ministerial Cancer Control advisory committee?

National’s conference has closed and Simon has come as close to dancing as his two right feet will allow for and kept his Leadership due to the fact that the majority of the National Caucus are still too terrified of Judith gaining power.

The 40% they are holding onto is a mix of Chinese NZers and the Rural voting block who despise Labour more than they despise each other. Hardly an electorate that can grow.

Without mates, National’s only pathway to victory is knocking NZ First and the Greens under 5%, gaining more Party vote than Labour and recycling the lost MMP vote into a Parliamentary majority. The Blue Green project is an attempt at sinking the Greens, Simon is hoping gun laws, climate change denial and peddling right wing UN fantasies will do the same to syphoning off  NZ First support.

The problem bigger than no electoral coalition partners and a lacklustre Leader with all the charisma of a pedestrian accident is the policy blackhole.

Most of the struggles NZ is currently living through, the housing crisis, the infrastructure  crisis, the public service underfunding – ALL of these are rooted in Nationals’ austerity programs and an economic policy dependent on selling milk powder to China and an open door immigration program that inflated house valuations so the middle classes could pretend to be millionaires.

State housing meth hysteria – National’s fault.

Oranga Tamariki weaponised uplift program – National’s fault.

Desecrating Ihumatao – National’s fault.

National can’t promise solutions to problems they have ideologically built, so all they can rely on is some desperate attempt at a no ideology gesture like a boost to Cancer funding. Hilariously though, it was actually National who cancelled  the independent Ministerial Cancer Control advisory committee in 2015!

It doesn’t matter what National wants to try and push as solutions, because ultimately it’s their policies that are the problem.

  1. “Oranga Tamariki weaponised uplift program – National’s fault. Desecrating Ihumatao – National’s fault.”

    But maybe, also National’s benefit.

It is Ardern who is being asked about watching the uplift video. It is Ardern who was indecisive about engaging in the Ihumatao issue. It is Labour with the seven Maori seats who has the most to lose. Conveniently, former Mana Party and Maori Party MPs appear, challenging the government. Destiny Church too. There for the people, they all say.

  2. 200 million for cancer. Yeah right
Take a bit from each DHB and wrap it up as a Cancer Drug fund.

DHB cancer treatment involves much more than drugs but drugs are used.

NACT have shown they support private health ( you pay for it monthly) and have effective run down the public health system.
Separating money from DHBs is a back door ploy at dividing the system. Beware further privatisation.

  3. In my assessment National let the standards of Health delivery, tumble to Second World ( definitely not First world).

Like many Kiwis I have felt the fear of the lamentable outcomes of health service delivery in NZ but I’ve also been fortunate enough to experience the high level of health delivery in Australia and Russia and ( before America unleashed ISIS) Syria.

We delude ourselves greatly if we think our health industry is healthy.

A simple sign we can all understand is: Without Asian ( widest definition) nurses, ??? Where would we be?

And yet xenophobic denizens of luvly new zilind want to ban immigrants!

    Where’s Winston?

  4. Why didn’t this goon squad offer cash for cancer when they were in power?
They had 9 years to do so.
Sounds like a cheap attempt at scoring some points to me.
Probably why they’ve jumped a few points in the latest opinion poll.
Amazing how short some people’s memories are in this country.
