SIS & GCSB narrative they aren’t reactive is a scam

This attempt by the GCSB & SIS to claim they only ‘react’ to threats which Andrew Little is shamefully regurgitating is the paving of a narrative that lets these pricks off the hook re the Christchurch atrocity.

They were pretty bloody reactive when they thought Māori radicals were training for a terrorist attack in the Urewera’s weren’t they?

If the SIS doesn’t ‘react’ to threats wtf was their program to spy on Muslims in Mosques?

Pretending they aren’t responsible for proactive profiling is counter to the actual truth of what they do & it’s a manipulation to lessen criticism of their blind spot to white terrorism.

Watching the Minister give them that cover is bewildering.

  1. The reason they can’t prioritize is that they don’t know who their friends are. That’s because we’re not sure if we like them, because even though we can’t see what they’re doing most of the time, some of the stories we hear make it seem likely to be stupid. Because so far it’s been mostly useless

    • This Kitterage and the rest of the defence chiefs are nobodies. People have to have a far better understanding of ourselves and the width and breadth of New Zealand and how we fit into the broader region which includes America and China. Once the Education system can present New Zealand to the people it wouldn’t matter who the defence chiefs are because every one would be proud of New Zealand’s history.

I think we lose when we lose our culture and heritage. Because, The War on Terror was lost when it started to create more terrorists instead of reducing them.

      • My ears question-marked when Rebecca Kitteridge gave an interview saying that she thought the SIS’s work would make good television viewing – presumably like those those NZ Police and Customs programmes. It’s called reality television, I think.

I wondered how she prioritised in her job – and why.

        • Fact is more likely than not America and New Zealand have detained innoncent people along with guilty people Therefore, terrorists have certain inalienable rights. Without trial and effective court of appeal, there is no way to determine guilt.

  2. Probably the most dismaying aspect of this government is watching Andrew Little become a mouthpiece for the security agencies.

He gained so much respect for stepping down ahead of the last election and is now using that respect to front for the GCSB and SIS. I can’t think of something more likely to cause a person to lose hope than behaviour like that – and it’s not like Labour hasn’t given us lots of other reasons to lose hope but this is surely the worst

    • Yes. Its becoming more obvious that all thats changed is the pace towards an authoritarian state wedded to conservative economics. The fiscal restraint serves the purpose of limiting the amount of social change to a trickle while the politicians say nice things but behind the scenes cotinue to ramp up the security aparatus. If the $25M to fend off the desperate and helpless boat people and aid the Australians in their pure white ideology then I dont know what is. The far right will never be held to account because its the wrong narrative. Jacinda and Andrew are puppets playing the good cop role. Saying we really do care is easy for these types. They may even believe it themselves but there wil always be ready made excuses as to why they have to do what they are doing. Its for our own good dont you see. Obama was a master of this. I remember Chris Trotter saying that Chavez shouldnt have delivered to the Venezuelan poor as quikly as he did because he wrecked the economy. This is exactly the type of narrative that helps the do nothing brigade and turns all the poor and vulnerable away from politics. It plays into the hands of the elites but as Martyn often says, its all about choices (or maybe its idiot/savant at no rightturn). We can choose to fund what we like and $25M to fight helpless boat people would go a long way towards teachers pay. And as for useless submarine fighting aircraft… and the self imposed fiscal cap… and not raising taxes on the extremely wealthy… and removing the right for private banks to create money as debt…and on and on. We could have whatever we want and do have what those in control of the levers of power want. The masses to remain asleep or thankful that there is a class or group other than themselves that are the present target.
