The real purpose of the Blue Greens and New Conservatives

Simon may be 2 dimensional, but he’s not stupid.

Pundits are missing the real point of the Blue Greens and the New Conservatives and the behind the scenes support both political embryos are getting from National.

It took Labour 3 elections to work out how to defeat a popular leader, and National are learning immediately.

Labour’s 2016 strategy was all about dismantling Nationals coalition partners. Willie Jackson and his huge urban Māori network was taken on board to crush the Māori Party and former Police Union Boss Greg O’Connor was taken on board to kill off Peter Dunne.

Once Labour had eliminated National’s coalition partners, Winston could see a real reason in forming a Government with them because National had no where else to go.

National are adopting Labour’s 2016 election strategy.

The Blue Green are not an attempt to get to 5%, they are a spoiler to the Greens to make them slip under 5% and the New Conservatives alt right immigration language of hate is to syphon numbers off NZ First.

This strategy works better for National than it does for Labour because as the largest Party in Parliament, the majority of wasted vote gets recycled to National!

Instead of anointing Mark Mitchell as the new leader of the New Conservatives and gifting him Rodney, National just has to lend behind the scenes support to BGs and NCs, allow them to cannibalise Green and NZ First Party support to under 5% and let MMP do the rest.

  1. I think that’s exactly right. It’s a very cynical and underhanded way of doing things, but nonetheless completely legal. Starve Labour of coalition partners = National win. It will work too, assuming these new partners really do cannibalise the minor parties into irrelevance.

  2. Well then. If stealing strategies is the fashion of the day why not piss off every social justice worrier with economic progress.

    • Yes Jacinda needs to pick up her ‘dazzle and that sparkle’ again and act like the ‘princess of hope for all’ before the shine and the pollls slump, to make her a copy of what the happless labour leader Andrew Little was back in 2017, we need to remember.

Labour also promised to fix the washout of a 1km of rail at $4 million to Gisborne and it would be reopened when labour came into Government next, – and told the Gisborne press this in late 2016 and still Gisborne/HB waits for their promise to restore our rail again and it hasn’t happend.

      Sadly hope is fading here.
