As MMP reality sets in, Labour-NZ First-Green Government looks more likely

Once National started openly lying and the media simply empowered that narrative rather than denounce it, I believed the margin between Labour-NZFirst-Green and National-ACT would be down to the barest of minimums, but that the vote for change would be greater than what National and their right wing allies could muster.

With the Specials a week away and the expectation that Labour and the Greens will go up…

…the reality is that we are starting to see more and more of the mainstream punditry acknowledge that their attempt at a National Party Coronation has failed and that there is a 50-50 chance we will see a Labour led Government.

The Right are starting to freak out now and they will not simply stay silent and allow democracy to actually form a Government.

Expect to hear calls to reform MMP because it’s somehow cheated the people of NZ.

Expect to hear about economic instability and a promise that the markets are going to drop suddenly.

Expect to hear lots about Jacinda’s inexperience.

Expect t0 hear long, long, long, long, long explanations from Matthew Hooton as to why the Greens and National should form a Government.

Expect to hear every desperate bullshit claim to not change the Government.

Resist their lies, their spin and their manipulations. Our democratic processes are robust and strong, the will of the people was for change, and change can happen.

  1. Labour / Greens N.Z First have the potential to form what could be one of the greatest Governments in N.Z history.
There’s some really decent honest people with fantastic talent in all those parties who have great knowledge and ideas in their respective fields.
I see it as the best of all worlds that would benefit every New Zealander.
The other option does not bare thinking about…
We would get another 3 years of the idealess , short sighted , lying , cheating ,uninspiring, moralless , sell you down the river for the cheapest price National Party, who would cripple and then destroy any Party that went into coalition with them.
The choice could not be starker !!

  2. Once again, the conversation needs to be less about the game of special chairs, and more about policy, policy, policy! The key mistake made by the pundits proposing a marriage of convenience between National and NZ First (or even the Greens) is in thinking that the size of majority determines the stability of government. In reality, whether NZ First chooses to govern with Labour+Green or National(-ACT) needs to be based on how similar their policy platforms are. What chance is there of forming a “strong and stable” government between two parties whose policies agree on almost nothing?

    • Yes it is the best hope for a reversal of our present ruination of our once proud nation I love so dearly, – is to have all three in the Waka of change rowing together to a truly safe, clean, healthy, caring, inclusive society we almost lost.

  3. Bloody well put mate,

I hear those Natinal Party spinners now freaking out even on the overnight takback ZM & -radio live shows.

So much reaction is comming to them telling them to shut up and desist whie we let the “democracy reign”.

I just love hearing them clearly freaking out and wildy stating things only they actuallty now believe in.

It is now really beginning to show.
