New UMR Poll – National 40%, Labour 37%, Green 8%, NZ First 9%

Latest internal Labour Poll show Labour spiking up, National collapsing, the Greens not in the freefall situation Colma Brunton has them in and NZ First holding steady.

The right wing corporate media will be bitterly disappointed their character assassination of Metiria hasn’t destroyed the Greens and they will be panicking about Jacinda’s rise.

Expect bullshit mainstream media stories like the one in Stuff today to try and paint some type of corruption (do we all remember the $100 000 bottle of wine that never existed from 2014?)

The neoliberal establishment who are the servants of the corporate overlords who dictate NZs economic conditions will be demanding Labour’s subservience, and Labour will be pressured to water down any real policy to keep those Overlords happy.

Meanwhile voters will be desperately hoping that their vote this year actually means something rather than the pantomime of democracy they indulge in once every 3 years.

Expect scandals to be floated in the corporate media attempting to denigrate or destroy Labour and the Greens.

Watch for Judith Collins move against Bill if National lose.

The rich white male broadcasters of the corporate mainstream media were trying to convince voters this election that it was a sleepwalk to victory for National. To date, every poll over the last month has proven every single one of them wrong.

Don’t let these maggots below decide the direction of NZ.

  1. 100% Martyn,

    Well said there,

“The neoliberal establishment who are the servants of the corporate overlords who dictate NZs economic conditions will be demanding Labour’s subservience, and Labour will be pressured to water down any real policy to keep those Overlords happy.”

There must be drastic changes made to our NZ Media, already pointed out in the NZ First new policy on broadcasting just posted on TDB yesterday.

    https://thedailyblog.co.nz/2017/08/18/cbb-welcomes-nz-first-broadcasting-and-ict-policy/

These NZ First changes to curtail our heavily Corporate controlled MSM must be instituted if NZ First form part of a Labour lead Government after the election, and give the media back to the people.

  2. I tend to agree, as an abstract thinker I see the attacks on labour and the greens as an obviousy coordinated effort from National, the media and political pundits to ward off the advances of the labour green threat.

  3. Yes this is more believable. Happy days.

We need public debates to discuss ideas, rather than a group of overpaid talking heads promoting their views.

  4. yes, the “maggot pack” indeed, those dirty media “coots in suits” above

if a Labour led government looks even slightly likely, all efforts will be made by the establishment to move it right–from TPPA to “capital flight” to “think about the Maaarrrrrkets…” and every other pathetic line they can retch up

vote Labour/Green and Hone in Tai Tokerau!!

  5. Hehehee… grinning from ear to ear… lets hope it holds, as it looks like it will.

Labour led govt coming up – WITH the Greens .

    Happy days.

Bout the only good thing Hosking was worth was that saying…

    • I am obliged to recall the confident prediction in this column 3 years ago about an upcoming Cunliffe-led government. But I do have a sense that the tea-leaves are more solidly leftward-inclined this time round; there is a sense of ‘time for a change’ (was that a Labor slogan in G Whitlam’s time?). My preference (which is not to say my prediction) is for an Ardern-led coalition with Winston — the Greens, for heaven’s sake, lack credibility, as a house divided against itself (a green party dumping their climate-change expert! — is that ironic, or is it ironic?).

      • “My preference (which is not to say my prediction) is for an Ardern-led coalition with Winston — the Greens, for heaven’s sake, lack credibility, as a house divided against itself”

If the Greens really were divided as you claim, Graham and Clendon would have led a faction into a night-of-the-long knives scenario to get rid of Metiria, and Metiria would have clung to power at any cost, instead of all three stepping down for the good of the party. The last time NZ First came under the kind of attacks that have been launched to destabilize the Green, they were torn apart and disappeared from parliament, and the time before that, half their MPs left to form another party (the short-lived Mauri Pacific). The only reason NZ First has not come under such attack this time (yet) is that Winston is still holding the door open to working with National, and the pro-National commentariat can’t afford to risk alienating them.

“(a green party dumping their climate-change expert! — is that ironic, or is it ironic?).”

The Greens are chock full of climate change experts. Graham was dumped for making public comments out of turn, and bringing the party into disrepute during a critical phase of the election campaign. Had he and Clendon shut their mouths and saved their criticisms for post-election debriefs, the Greens could still be sitting around 10-15%, they would still have a popular female co-leader, and the two of them would still have a job. They were the authors of their own misfortune, and the Greens are stronger without them, as demonstrated by the poll results Bomber reports here.

      • Well despite the reservations of many on the Left , – my preference would be the Labour , Greens and NZ First in tandem,- thinking back I used to vote Jim Anderton / Alliance and also liked Winston , simply because they were the only significant acts in town at that time that opposed neo liberalism … and Peters copped a lot of flack at the time , but the reality was… both Labour and National were full steam ahead for the neo liberal deforms.

There wasn’t a lot of choice.

  6. ‘The neoliberal establishment who are the servants of the corporate overlords who dictate NZs economic conditions will be demanding Labour’s subservience, and Labour will be pressured to water down any real policy to keep those Overlords happy.’

    Yes.

And don’t forget that those who cheat and lie and misrepresent get well rewarded for doing so.

And don’t forget that NZ is riddled with opportunists who make a rich living out of raiding the commons and transferring all the costs for their activities onto others.

And expect to be betrayed (yet again), whoever forms the next government: the globalised economic system demands it.

  7. When confronted by anger (the anger they helped create) as in Dunedin yesterday, they run away. Why? They have no answers.
Their only option now is negativity. Dirty Politics v2.0.
Fear of taxes. Fear of Maori. Fear of markets. They’ll try to whip a storm.
Trouble is, it’s up against the relentless positivity of Labours campaign. And the horses…sorry, I mean voters…..for all their unblinking ignorance, will see through those tactics without the shiny Key-ster to comfort them and legitimise their world view.
Don’t trip on your ‘Emperors new clothes’ on the way out the door Bill.

    • 1000% QUICKSILVER.

These toxic Nasty NatZ will now resort to “dirty politics 2” soon as they see their chances of returning failing.

  8. I was bemused by the protest at Dunedin hospital yesterday , a 1 Billion upgrade, a good thing when health, education and housing are what the opposition always grizzle about although Winston had a point about the timing of it. May leave Jacinda with a long face……. opps forgot , she already has one. Excuse my sense of humor , it is Sunday.

    • Ahh yes, of course. We should all shut up and take cynically timed election bribes from National as gold plated assurances that after 9 years, they suddenly & miraculously do care.

    • Your comment on the Labour leader is pathetic and certainly not funny.

I guess it shows that National and its supporters are getting really worried now.

National have had nine years , with not much to show for it.
Apart from a mountain of debt left behind, and a whole lot of asset sales to foreigners, dirty lakes and rivers and the list goes on.

    • Dave
How does a $1 billion dollar upgrade in buildings address surgeons spending only 2 days a week in surgery? It isn’t money for the health service at all, it’s money for contractors and another monument to some politician.
The health service is being run in a manner designed to drive everyone into private health care so that they get some, and private health insurance so that they can pay for it. Its called “user pays”.
      David J S

    • Better to have a long face Dave than be 2 faced like our current government and their leader (talking about faces have you looked at Bills face lately Dave)

  9. Of course you being a “blockhead” Dave;

Dave you wouldn’t even consider where that $1 Billion of money is being robbed from other medical services would you?????

  10. Well said.
I can’t understand that we don’t have the code of ethics that is enforced to make journalists unbiased. Their distorted views have so much power.

  11. Going by responses from door-knocking, I’ve had only two negative responses against the Greens, and one was from a pakeha woman in a “leafy suburb” and another male maori – both of whom admitted never having to survive on welfare. (A third baby-boomer male in an up-market residential area declined a billboard on his fence – not because of Ms Turei, but because he supported National. When I asked if he’d be putting up a National Party billboard on his fence, he *harumphed* and said “I don’t want theirs either!” )

But when putting up billboards, and door-knocking elsewhere, the response to the Green Party has been positive. Lots of car-horns tooting support; thumbs up out windows; and smiles. Home owners consenting to Green corflutes on their fences have been very positive.

And as I said in my story, “One Day Out with Green Team #5”, I even got a dinner invite from one household!

So don’t believe the negative media hype from the media elite – community support for the Greens is still strong.

  12. Sorry you are wrong, the media establishment have so far (mostly) showed that they love JA, that is just a fact.

I am with you on the media maggots part, but disconcertingly the MSM seem to find something about JA that agrees with them, you can hear it in the inflection in their voices, never heard that subtle approval for Little…not even once that I can remeber.

I mean even The Herald approve of her, if that isn’t a serious worry I don’t know what is? hoped to be proved wrong, because she is without doubt the next PM.

    • +100…yup agree with that too…they applauded/anointed Andrew Little over David Cunliffe…and now Jacinda Adern over Andrew Little

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacinda_Ardern

…this from wiki concerns me a little : “She later spent time in London, working as a senior policy advisor to Tony Blair.[6] She was also seconded to the Home Office to help with a review of policing in England and Wales.[5] In early 2008 she won election as the President of the International Union of Socialist Youth,[7] a role which saw her spend time in countries such as Jordan, Israel, Algeria and China.[5]”

…time will tell…in the meantime anything is better than Nactional

  13. While it may not be a sleep walk for National, the Labour Green block, still can not beat a National New Zealand First bloc.

Even if as I expect, that National will drop even further in the polls as we get closer the election, making the race even tighter.

The New Zealand First vote will not decline. New Zealand First may go up, or continue to remain steady in the polls, depending on whether the disaffected ex-National voters go to Labour or NZF. (But I repeat, the NZF vote will not decline. The stubbourn red-neck Pakeha base that Peters panders to with his divisive rhetoric will not shift).

If Labour win all the Maori seats, (which is their stated intention), Under MMP it will not increase Labour’s majority in the house.

New Zealand First will not go with Labour because Labour will not agree to Winston Peters bottom line condition of a binding referendum on removing the Maori seats.

If Labour don’t succeed in taking all the Maori seats, and the Maori Party are still in Parliament, the Labour party will still get their MMP quota.
The Maori Party will not go with the National New Zealand First bloc. which increases the potential number of seats in the House available for the Left bloc. (Anyone who says that the Maori Party would go with a National NZF bloc., is just being silly).
If Hone Harawira also wins Te Tai Tokerau, the election is in the bag for Labour.

Will Labour continue their kamakaze flight path to take all the Maori Seats and put themselves back into opposition?

    Time will tell, of course.

But I suspect that Labour are just stupid and racist enough to stick to their suicidal plan.

    • Your analysis here is mostly pretty sound Pat, and I agree with your overall conclusion, but I strongly disagree with this bit:

“But I suspect that Labour are just stupid and racist enough to stick to their suicidal plan.”

Calling Labour’s strategy of attempting to fill the Māori seats with (Māori) Labour MPs “racist” doesn’t even make sense. Neither was it stupid; at the time the strategy was put into action the goal was to get rid of one of National’s current coalition partners, one which had the potential to gain significantly more seats due to the non-aggression pact with Mana. I do agree though that it’s time to reconsider that strategy, for the reasons you’ve given.

      • Maybe it was harsh.
But the truth is no whole class of MPs have ever been removed from a party list, like this. How else could you describe it. As you say it was “put into action to get rid one of National’s current coalition partners”.

The extra goad was needed because of Maori MPs iwi and whakapapa links with their adverseries.

Patronising? racist? insensitive? cynical? pick your description.

What the Labour Party are afraid of, is what became known in parliament as the “Maori Caucus”, that reached across party lines.

But Labour’s strategy to break up the Maori caucus has turned into a slow motion car crash in action. But it could still be stopped and turned around. The Labour Party Maori MPs could easily be put back on the list. It was done for Kelvin Davis, so it could be done for the rest.

What the Labour Party are afraid of is what became known in parliament as the Maori Caucus, that reached across party lines.

Labour should get over their fear of an independent Maori voice, as Hone Harawira says, “What is good for Maori is good for all New Zealanders.”

  14. Dare to dream …? The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern 🙂

Seems like with each passing day it’s becoming more of a reality.

    Oh please yes.

    • Yes, we dare to dream.
Because anything, Mary, anything, has to be better than the repugnant Key/English horror show of the last nine years.

Having that repulsive, insulting, degrading, inhuman, lying frontispiece of neoliberal thievery shoved in our faces each day for nearly a decade has been too much.

It’s cost people their homes, their families, their very lives.
And that’s a sacrifice that should never ever have been made.

    • “This is time for talking with family and friends, this is a time for knocking on doors and working the phones, this is a time for sharing our vision of tomorrow with everyone you meet.”

“let’s go from here today and run the campaign of our lives.”

      “Let’s do this!”

      Jacinda Ardern

At the Auckland Town Hall Labour Party campaign launch Jacinda Ardern calls on Labour supporters and members to knock on doors and hit the phones.

In my opinion, to secure her Party’s victory and to signal that she is serious, Jacinda Ardern herself needs to knock on some doors.

Jacinda Ardern needs to knock on the doors and hit the phones of the Maori Party. And get them to agree to support a Labour Green coalition government. In return Ardern can agree to put the Maori Labour MPs back on the Labour list, properly ranked just like all other Labour MPs, ans so prevent a destructive mandingo like struggle for the Maori seats. Which even if won by Labour will be counterproductive.

  15. I’ve just finished door-knocking in Silverstream, Upper Hutt.

I discovered very quickly that most folk haven’t heard of the recent UMR and Roy Morgan polls that have the Greens at 8% and 9%, instead of the disastrous Colmar Brunton’s 4% result.

The media is not telling us the full story.

  16. And on the 100.000 bottle of wine why is John Armstrong back writing for the Herald? I thought he had retired with early dementia?

    • Jeremy, Natz are really desperate now, so their master Steven Joyce is looking under all the murky rocks to find as many old hack journalists as possible to spread the BS propaganda on government’s behalf! Hence the reappearance of Armstrong this electoral cycle.

I believe Armstrong has Parkinson’s Disease.

  17. I am waiting for the MSM to report Jacinda is pregnant, and will have to leave governing to Grant Robertson, kind of creating ‘rumours’. Such a kind of undermining will have to be expected now, forcing Jacinda to undergo some ‘tests’.
