It’s pretty early to be naming a political year, but we did it on Waatea 5th Estate last week, and it got me to thinking about this year in politics, and it’s been an incredibly deceitful year.
The most terrifying lesson the National Party seem to have taken from their 2014 election result is that as long as John Key stares down the barrel and denies everything, NZers desperate to keep their fake property wealth will vote National.
It didn’t matter that Key clearly lied about mass surveillance and it didn’t matter that Key was running a dirty ops team out of his office, what mattered was that Key could deny it, fiddle with the facts and rely on an underfunded and toothless mainstream media to uncritically regurgitate it.
This year saw that spin and manipulation of numbers taken to truly pornographic levels.
Pretending that China wasn’t launching a trade war.
Using flawed drug tests to kick tenants out of state houses.
Lying about Ministry Officials meeting homeless people with NGOs.
Crime stats being manipulated.
Denying MPI was involved in over fishing
Inequality stats being manipulated.
Denying any housing crisis even exists
Shrugging off investing in cluster bombs.
Denying there is an immigration problem with migrant worker exploitation
Underfunding early child education while pretending to put more money into it
Pretending a Saudi sheep bribe wasn’t a bribe.
Claiming to have a comprehensive housing plan
Stacking the Parliamentary process so legislation about luggage rights and business newsletters eclipse chid poverty, homelessness and housing affordability.
More spy powers despite no actual threat.

” Auckland Housewives ” – petty – embarrassing – frankly stupid women and this is supposed to be a show of choice for our country ? Pathetic but then when we have leaders who are liars and petty and immature, can we expect better ?
Leaders who support the quality of TV going right down the toity.
And this disgusting TV show is going worldwide ( other than NZ and USA ) so it appears that many are wishing and hoping and dreaming for a life they will never attain and watching people who are not worth emulating. If one can not live the life of the rich, at least they can watch their madness on TV and then switch to Parliament for more of it.
Yes we hate criminal corporations and gangster terrorist bankers because they fund & push this kind of cultural insanity – getting people sucked in and brainwashed and semi – comatose.
Let’s take a little vacation and watch Housewives and see how those Rothschild’s type upper 1% ers swill their champagne and live their selfish insular lives in luxury. Brain-dead – a glimpse into a mad world. Would love to know how their husbands made their wealth.

The NatZ have stacked the dice in their favour here, unless you can persuade the opposition parties to band together and legally challenge the state owned media TVNZ/RNZ to separate half the facility over to opposition members/parties, (spin doctors/reporters,) to take some control back of the public media else we are suffering a disaster again.
On what legal principle will the Opposition parties challenge the current ownership model if the State controlled Media?

With the current political environment such as it is i have real doubt that the playing field far from being level that we will have a change of government in a years time such is the Key governments suffocating strangle hold on the political landscape unlike anything we have seen since the Muldoon government 35 years ago.
Of course there are things running in his favour the Auckland property market being one and low interest rates, an opposition leader who does not capture the publics imagination , effective spin and building up a large constituency that has not moved in eight years and a media who have lost all control of their moral compass that has shielded this government from adverse criticism and accountability and made sure that its sympathisers have prime time coverage on network television, saying everything is marvellous in New Zealand and how terrible the left wing is and kiwis have bought into it.
With help they have destroyed any credibility the opposition might have had thanks too dirty politics and of course the huge money chest just waiting to be spent for the campaign donated from grateful big business and others we will never know about.
Its not the country i have memories of only just 9 years ago its become a one party state with no means of an escape route.
It’s the ease of and the now constant regularity of the lying that really marks out 2016.
There is not a single minister who is not omitting, in the least, some sort of vital information in any given circumstance that the public should know about and not a single minister who is worthy of listening to, not unless you are doing a thesis in text-book behavioral traits of dishonest people or something. And frankly it has now gone on to be corruption.
Key generally leads with a particle of truth thinly covering a giant lie and his other ministers skill at doing the same varies according to their psychopathic tendencies, some are just bloody awful. Misleading is the maxim rather ironically here, nothing less.
The sad thing is any statistic in NZ now becomes an exercise in linear algebra or book making take your pick, but God knows the actual stat quoted by a National Minister and what it is supposed to represent should at all times be taken with a grain of salt.
It is such a pity that whilst all the dishonesty goes on a large part of our dumb media (some of the tired old hacks that have hung around parliament far too long for example) sit idly by and comment on any given assurance from Keys government as if it were reliable. It never is!
Question is why is it necessary to lie to your citizens like this?

Now, since this has been mentioned, now that “dildo collection” does really interest me, I hope it will be discussed on ‘The Nation’ and ‘Q+A’ next weekend.
The time will come that such topics will be our breakfast fare, rather than any other discussions, I am sure, we are on track now, firmly on track, to achieve this “brighter future” (fluorescent dildos, I presume).
We are headed for a brighter future, literally a brighter future, and it will begin to manifest shortly after the globalised industrial system starts to significantly collapse (which is anticipated to occur some time around 2020).
At the moment industrial activity is putting so much filth into the atmosphere it is literally blocking out the sun. A reduction in global industrial activity is expected to lead to a reduction in Global Dimming (as it is sometimes called), I.e. a brighter future.

The downside to a cleaner atmosphere and the increase in sunlight reaching the Earth’s surface is that temperatures will probably rise even faster than they already are.
You won’t hear about any of that from John Key or the National Party spin-doctors, of course. Nor from the corrupt and incompetent bureaucrats who are an essential component of the governmental wrecking gang.

For some reason ‘the left’ constantly shies away from exposing the blatant lies surrounding the official story of 9/11, perhaps because ‘the left’ (and especially Labour) has been deeply in bed with ‘the establishment’ for such a long time it does not know ‘how to get out of bed.’ Or every nation except Russian, China, Iran and North Korea is still terrified of the American globalised war machine and has to keep lying about practically everything in order to not be invaded.
