Key has been forced to u-turn after the backlash at his illegal plans to spend tax payer dollars to pay for a defamation case.

I don’t think Key’s people didn’t know it was illegal – they knew – they were just trying it on, because that’s what we have in John Key, a Prime Minister who just tries it on.

Most of the time it works. He tried it on with sending troops to Iraq, tried it on by ramming through mass surveillance powers, tried it on by running a dirty smears team out of his office, tried it on by selling 49% of our assets to prop up irrigation in the South Island.

He’s tried it on with this stupid bloody flag debate.

Key is a PM who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing – he has the political ethics of a hungry shark, no guiding principles, no central core values, just the expediency of the moment.

That such vacancy of ethics is desirable and is celebrated in NZ says a lot about those who vote National.

  1. He will only ‘keep trying it on’ until someone stops him. Where are the opposition and media ( smirk ) showing Key up for what he is? Where is our Corbyn, our Sanders, letting New Zealanders know it doesn’t have to be this corrupt, lying, treasonist future for New Zealand.

    • [Stuart, I realise you probably meant that in a joking sort of way, but I’m removing it because others might not see it that way. – ScarletMod]

      • I don’t object all – but I’m not completely joking either. I feel there is a strong public interest argument for shooting John Key, though you may not be able to publish it.

          • It is one thing when a government overrules my preferences democratically and in the public interest – it is quite another when a government corruptly acts against the public interest or makes treasonous alliances with foreign states or corporate entities.

Classical writers would not state merely that citizens have the right to remove John Key, but that they have a duty to do so.

        • Stuart, I’m no fan of that con-man/PM either. But talking about shooting someone doesn’t help.

  2. What I can’t understand is why Bradley Ambrose did not at least demand an apology from Key for his totally gratuitous denigration. The implication of what has been said is that Mr Key settled without admitting any fault, planning, initially at least, to do no more than get the taxpayers to make a small contribution to Ambrose’s legal costs.

Bradley Ambrose has said that he was forced to silence by the confidentiality clause of the agreement. But the confidentiality has already been waived when John Key declared that the payment had been small.

In my view, apart from renewing a demand for an apology, based on the PM breaking confidentiality, Ambrose should now declare that the payment had in fact been eye-wateringly large and leave John Key to deal with that.

I was also not too impressed with Andrew Little’s comment that Key should pay for “his mistake.” It wasn’t a mistake. Key shot his mouth off about someone he imagined to be a supporter of another party and by no means for the first time. The “mistake” was not providing him with a minder-babysitter. Or a gag.

  3. when the shonkey government falls i would like see a high powered leagle probe in to the national party and the john key government era

  4. Tried it on bullying people at their place of work pulling ponytails and passed it off as horseplay. Tried it on lying about what he knew and when he knew about Mike Sabin. Tried it on lying about his relationship with Cameron Slater. Tried it on lying about mass surveilance…………..and on and on and on. Unfortunately the sheeple keep voting for him so he gets away with it.

  5. Come on Martyn leave the sharks alone. They are a superb example of evolution at its best, a predator magnificently adapted to their environment and a vital part of the oceans ecosystem.
Key is just a dodgy money trader

  6. Nope:

His paid trolls and focus groups and polling, tell him what to think and do to offend the least number of people. Gosman and Andrew-types will troll through commentary about what can hurt the PM and report back to HQ like the good “minions” they are.

The NATZKEYS control the MSM, they use the uncontrolled media to filter feed for damaging comments about the PM and then into damage control mode.

More ducks will be put in rows, Jason’s will be Eded, nobody will ever remember whathisname Gilmore and the prominent Northlander will be “dealt with” before the end of this year so they can be quarantined out of the debate in the run-up to the 2017 election. Anything that could cause heat for the PM next year will be “handled” so that he can starve it of oxygen next year.

Any predictions on what else could cause heat for the PM anyone?

  7. I hear the PM is off overseas after the “fleg referendumb” results, so the public won’t see him sobbing on One News. I doubt he’ll come back if it’s less than 25% support for his new fleg?

He won’t have to answer leading questions from Gower like “Don’t you think the left-wing voters sabotaged your flag Prime Minister?”

I doubt whether Key and all the corporate money and sponsored celebrities will be gracious in defeat, arrogance rarely does have any grace or class.

The fleg change seems like it was the result of the PM having been too close to Aaron Gilmour:

The fleg change was the PM’s Hamner Heritage brainfart “You’ll know who I am by the new New Zealand fleg!”

The new fleg, Key’s Gilmour moment ….

  8. Like he tried it on when he took Crosby Textors advice and told NZers we had Jihadi brides leaving NZ to join Isis. (Recently proven false but under reported)
He knows he won’t get a grilling from the media so he can say what he likes.

  9. Good points raised, Martyn. However, as much as I loathe Key and want him gone, reference to shooting him do The Daily Blog no favours.

  10. What a sad series of comments. This negative blog makes me feel sure that that Labour/Green will not govern any time soon.

  11. I’ve seen almost nothing about this in MSM. Or, what passes for our MSM these days.

A PM trying to use pubic money to pay a settlement for a defamation case in which he is the defamer…. is corrupt and illegal at worst, and immoral at best.

Pretty sure if anyone from the Greens or Labour did that it’d be all over headlines for at least a week.

Did I miss it in MSM?
