โ€œWorkers will replace their aprons with union stickers,โ€ says FIRST Union Retail and Finance Secretary Maxine Gay.

ย

โ€œThis action will likely continue until a collective agreement is settled.โ€

ย

FIRST Union and Bunnings remain locked in negotiations.

ย

โ€œBunnings is still refusing to compromise on rosters. Under the current agreement rosters are set when both the manager and worker agree, but under Bunningโ€™s proposal the manager will have the power to simply impose a roster on the worker.โ€

ย

โ€œThis is going to put family time at risk. You canโ€™t plan when you have no control over your start and finish times.โ€

ย

The apron strike follows a nationwide strike in September and December 2015, a letter from MPs to Bunnings CEO Jacqui Coombes and a store shut down at Bunnings New Lynn.
