  1. On the same subject there was an article in the 2004 edition of the Dog and Lemon Guide about the Ford Motor Company and the Ford Pinto car in the 1960s. Much the same thing, Ford knew about a design fault in the Pinto that could lead to the car’s petrol tank exploding in a rear-end collision but decided that the amount of money it might have to pay in law suits following accidents caused by the design faults would still be less than the amount of money they would have to spend on fixing the problem. Interesting reading!
