  1. While there are certainly a large number of voters who haven’t a clue what they are voting for I put the cause of that mainly down to the weak pathetic sycophantic mainstream media that seems to view politics as a sport and parliament as some circus to rate from one performance to another. Just listen to the commentators on ZB or RNZ and TVNZ is plain missing in action.

    1. The labour cost for a business to bring revenue in is roughly 20 percent.

For Nact the labour cost to not give out tax cuts to the poor is 22 percent.

It would be interesting to know what the ird labour cost is to ensure landlords get all the tax cuts they’re “sorted and entitled” to.

  2. National deliberately designed the scheme to have lots of administrative overhead. They did that to disincentivise parents from applying – the fuss of keeping invoices and submitting them regularly is a pain that is not worth the bother unless you are getting a significant amount of money back.
    The lessons here are:
    – National don’t give a f**k about ‘waste’ and inefficiency. They go on about these things simply as a way of denying services to non-rich people. When waste and inefficiency serve their own interests as is the case here, it’s all good.
    – Universality of entitlements is always the best way to approach social services – and targeting should in most cases be rejected as self-defeating, right-wing bullshit and sabotage. It is always more efficient and always creates greater social cohesion if entitlements are universally available to everyone – with the cost of providing them clawed back from the wealthy through progressive income tax, estate tax etc. It’s what we used to do before Rogernomics and it made us a better and more equal society.

  3. To be honest, this is simply what New Zealanders have come to expect – a double double helping of administration – with chopped nuts, chocolate sauce, and sprinkles – whenever a new policy initiative slides into the hands of the bureaucracy.

  4. National took lying to a whole new level at them last election and the CoC will turn on one another at the 2026 election trying to get re-elected. They will have the backing of the rich as they did last time, many who only care about themselves and exploiting and plundering our countries environment and anxious to get their dirty hands on any of our few remaining assets.
I can already hear the bald ones lies, blaming the coalition saying he had to make tradeoffs as that is what is required under MMP. But really our country is in a mess both socially and economically divided we need to get rid of the CoC they are toxic like poison.

  5. No other GOVT has bypassed democratic process as much as luxons GOVT in NZ History. Fact!
