Dear National Party Voters

Hey there National Party Voters of NZ, how are you?

Look I appreciate we don’t talk much. but I thought I’d just give a bit of a shout out and ask you that you’re not seriously going to let the Australians kill or beat NZ citizens are you?

John Key, your Prime Minister who you elected, has been spineless over the issue of Australia abusing, beating and detaining NZ citizens and right now there are 40 armed riot police outside the Christmas Island detention camp with drones flying overhead.

John Key is YOUR Prime Minister and YOU voted for him so seeing as he’s kinda your responsibility, how’s about y’all get in touch with your local MPs and scream down the phone at them about our Government’s pathetic response to the abuse of our citizens.

Here are the National Party MP contact details

  1. Why is John Key not taking the Australian government to task over the Christmas Island debacle? Well there is the obvious reason, namely a lack of spine, which has been talked about in previous posts; but I think there is also another reason here.
The majority of those transferred to Christmas Island are, so we are told, people with criminal pasts. With their “get tough on crime” rhetoric National are hardly going to be advocating fairer treatment for people who most of their supporters would simply call “crims” are they? No, in fact most of them would probably encourage the Australian authorities to give them “what they deserve”.
No, John Key will not challenge the Australian government because he and National secretly approve of the treatment these people are getting.

    • He’s not taking them to task because he has zero leverage in the matter. Just like Helen Clark also folded like a cheap suit over kiwi rights in Aussie. This policy is very popular with the Aussie voter and nothing you, I or John Key can do will change that fact. Personally I can see their point of view.

This is a sovereign issue for Australia: If they wish deport foreign criminals they certainly have a right to do so.

Those Kiwi crims on Christmas Island are only there because they’re fighting deportation – if they accepted deportation they’d be out on the next available flight.

      • We should have petitioned Abbot to let a Kiwi lead UN team work along side our ally back in Feburary. As a trade off for for our vote for Australia seat on the UN human rights council.

Geopolitics just isn’t Keys strongest attribute.

He jokes while our troops are in Iraq, and our citizens in detention centres built to fight a war on boat people using legislation meant to fight terrorism.

Like Iv told you before. Keys is a really shit war time PM

          • Could you be a bit more specific?

            Is that a criminal policy?

            An Imagration policy?

            A fines collection policy?

Or a god dam national security and terror policy being administered and commanded by a Brigadier General with special powers to withhold information, again under terrorism laws?

The truth is Christmas Island broke the bank. It was meant to cost under 200 mill to build and 17 mill a year to run. We’ve spent well over 2 billion on it and that’s not even including chartered flights.

The whole things a mess. What that has to do with criminals and the Australian voting population is something only the true believes can apologies for.

  2. I am NOT a NP supporter; I am a Labour Party supporter, much despised by many of those commenting for being what is described as ‘left of centre’.

As far as I am aware nobody has been beaten to death and it remains to be seen whether such an event will occur.

As for those being detained they have been at great pains to deny any connection with NZ. As the Duke of Wellington remarked after being asked whether he was Irish having been born in Ireland, “being born in a stable does not make one a horse”.

There are many injustices in this world but Australia locking up and getting rid of criminals is not one I get too exercised about and when some of those detainees start a disturbance (I will not say riot) my sympathy levels drop further.

    • I suspect that if you knew anything at all about the conditions that the detainees are enduring on Christmas Island, you would be ashamed of your last paragraph. Unless you are completely devoid of any sense of empathy and justice.

      • I can assure you I would not be in the least ashamed. And for the record JK was 100% right with his comments in parliament.

    • Someone has been found dead under suspicious circumstances, but don’t let the facts get in the way of your cognitive bias.

    • I recall a debate Derwent Australian Greens MP Sarah Hanson young and some Imagration minister under Howard about new terror laws 1 or 2 years ago. The Abbott government wanted to make it easier to deport terrorists, returning jihadis, Baot people ect ect. Miss young said the wording was to vague and it will drag in a lot of people that has nothing to do with terrorism. Because all a constable needed was his area commanders signature to deport some one, previously only the minister could sign off on deportations around terror. To which the former and serving minister gave repeated assurances that there are checks and balances blah blah.

It didn’t take long for Hanson Youngs prediction to come true. We are radicalising people that previously had no reason to get upset with the system. It is a failed policy led by a bunch oh dads army wanna bees.
