Winston Peters joins allies in demanding Israel allow aid into Gaza
New Zealand has joined 23 other countries calling out Israel and demanding a full supply of foreign aid be allowed into the territory.
Foreign Affairs Minister Winston Peters says it’s “intolerable” that Israel has blocked any aid reaching residents for many weeks.
The UN is warning that 14,000 babies are estimated to be suffering severe acute malnutrition in Gaza and ideally they need to get supplies within 48 hours.
The UK, France and Canada have expressed their frustration, with the UK’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy telling Parliament the war in Gaza has entered a “dark new phase” and the UK was cancelling trade talks with Israel.
Although the situation had come about because of acts of terrorism by Hamas, for residents in Gaza it had become “intolerable”, Peters told Morning Report.
“We’ve had enough of this and we want the matter resolved and now.”
A full resumption of aid should have happened a long time ago and it was essential that the United Nations be involved in delivering it.
“… we’ve just simply had enough of it, utterly so [from Israel].”

You can righteously (as I do) hate on Winston and his redneck, anti-trans, anti-vaccine culture war granddad routine he plays to keep above the 5% threshold.

However.
When it comes to his role as Foreign Minister and his inexhaustible political contacts, he does NZ proud.
Now, has our collective criticism against Israel been enough?

Why Winston’s comments matter is because zionist apologists have weaponised claims of anti-semitism to silence any criticism of their ethnic cleansing war crime genocide, so when a senior Politicians like Winston savage the Israeli response, it really does matter.
Notice how quiet all the Zionist apologists became over Winston’s comments?
They fear truth and are terrified when Politicians with the mana of Winston speak.

He needs to follow those words up with actions.
1 – Kick the Israeli Ambassador out of NZ
2 – Formally change the visa entry for Israeli’s to ensure war criminals aren’t holidaying here.
3 – Volunteer aid and help for Palestine’s re-building.
4 – Put money towards ‘Peace Camps’ held on Marae in NZ where selected Palestinian and Israeli youth leaders can come together on all paid scholarships for week long sessions of meeting and talking and planning together for the future because after hate as deep and wretched as is between Palestinians and Israelis, you desperately need the next generation to have space divorced of that poison if they are to have any hope of growing together in the future.

I don’t think Winston looked at all happy during tricky nicky no good’s budget belch.
At last NZ is saying something. It’s …very late in the game as it has been clear from the beginning that Israel has been intent on genocide. Now is it almost too late for this response after so much killing has happened, with unlimited supply of weapons by the US under Joe now under Trump who wants Gaza cleared out for a resort. War crimes.
Didn’t criticize the genocide, only the methods, didn’t take any actual action against the babyrapers.
In a subsequent RNZ interview he even made the ludicrous claim that the UNRWA is corrupt (a zionist lie which Winston previously used as an excuse to CUT OFF AID TO GAZA through the UNRWA) and that Hamas is stealing baby formula (a zionist lie that they use as an excuse to block baby formula from getting to babies).

Once again the lack of definitions defeat the argument. Which Israelis? The one third who support Netanyahu and the Lukid Party. Or the other two thirds who are shut down in their own country and are leaving in droves as soon as they can.
That’s an important distinction don’t you think.
So yes, the war crimes being committed are worse than those the Nazis perpetrated against the European Jews, and rank a thousand times worse than 9/11. And Peters has rightly called them out. And yes, your four points, while desirable, are unlikely to happen.
But as the leading left wing press, this site really needs to do better in its definitions.
We should also join the growing number of countries who recognise a Palestinian state
