Foreign Minister Winston Peters delivers speech in the Oxford Union Debate
Foreign Minister Winston Peters has delivered a speech in the Oxford Union Debate, arguing the courts undermine democracy.
His attendance at the debates follows those of ACT leader David Seymour in June, and Labour MP Willie Jackson last May.
The trio are the first sitting New Zealand MPs to take part since David Lange famously said he could smell the uranium on his opponent’s breath in a debate over nuclear weapons.
In his speech, Peters said examples of judicial overreach in New Zealand included resource management, the interpretation of the Treaty of Waitangi, and the place of tikanga in the Marine and Coastal Areas Act foreshore and seabed legislation.
“All of these examples have one thing in common. They show that while democracy is founded on the idea that the people through their elected representatives have the final say in how our countries should operate, too often this popular will has faced baseless challenge,” he said.
His position was defeated 140 votes to 70.
Now, cast your mind back to when it was announced that Willie was going to Oxford, what did Winston say?

The reason Winston acted so bitter is because Winston was jealous.
The Oxford Debates are the greatest debate series in the world where Winston’s great hero, Churchill spoke at. To be invited to speak is a prized honour that clearly Winston always wanted and his naked jealousy that Willie was invited and not Winston is the reason Winston was so toxic at the news.
Willie was the first Māori to speak at the Oxford Debates and the third Kiwi after David Lange and Jenny Shipley to speak there, instead of congratulate Willie for being selected Winston chose to shit on him.
And what happened when Willie won?
Oh Winston was very quiet then wasn’t he?
And now Winston has gone to the same great Debate and lost? How dem apples feel Winston?
Winston is like an Octogenarian on viagra – a still old prick no one wants!
This will truly infuriate Winston and I’m genuinely pleased.

The fact that Winston’s speech at the Oxford Union Debate was about “democracy” says all we need to know about this twisted, hypocritical old deviant. He wouldn’t even understand the meaning of the word. All he wanted to do was defend his ugly, unwarranted anti Maori, anti Treaty stance. Clearly he has no shame or accountability? And yes, he’s a biased and cruel liability to NZ. Now he’s preparing to entertain the disgraceful Deputy PM of Israel and try to pretend it isn’t happening. Appears there is no end to the corruption and deceit from this CoC mob – they deserve all that’s coming! And what about our gutless media – so disgusted with their take on everything out there at present. All in all, a miserable bunch of dropkicks!
I remember watching David Lange at the Oxford debate. My parents and I watched the debate and were impressed with the eloquence of Lange.
Lange spoke well and didn’t mind being interrupted with a question from one of the students there. Whereas Jerry Falwell showed his Arrogance and refused to be interrupted until the end of his speech. One comment Falwell said was that “No American goes to bed at night with the fear of being nuked…”. That comment drew gasps of shock from the audience.
In June David Seymour gave a speech at the Oxford Debate and didn’t do too well. And now Winston Peters gave a speech which looks like it went down like a bucket of cold sick.
Now that two-thirds of the leaders of this Coalition of Clowns has been deservedly judged by the Learned Folk at Oxford I am wondering if Luxon will appear there to make his speech???!!! Or will he chicken out because it’s likely within 2 minutes of opening his mouth and repeating his Learnt by Rote words the Learned Folk will figure out the guy is nothing but a shallow, unintelligent and Useless leader???!!
It could be likely those at say a Luxon Oxford Debate would be wondering as to where were the brains of NZers that voted in such a Hollow creature???!!!
So I would say Intellectually Luxon would be way out of his depth if invited to a Oxford Debate. He doesn’t possess the Where-with-all to be capable of answering intelligent questions from the audience.
Still wouldn’t it be great fun to see Luxon in such a situation and he gets some well deserved Karmic Payback? Because right now he probably thinks he is the most intelligent person on the planet and everyone should heap adulation upon him.
Maybe winston will just come out and say those that voted against him are just woke losers.He is the loser and maybe he should look at the result which is close to how NZ would vote on the same question at a referendum .He should spend the time on his flight home thinking about what a sick person he has become .He might realize now that life as a potato is not that good .The colonial masters have given him the message that he is wrong .

How would Luxon get on? He wouldn’t even be able to find the place. If it’s not in Hawaii or US he won’t have ever heard of it.

Soooo… both Winnie and Davo, went to Oxford to debate on positions they are advocates for, and lost? How bad were their arguments? Perhaps their beliefs and logic lacked enough substance to convince students who live on the other side of the planet, that there was any merit to them to begin with.
