Oscar-winning Palestinian director released after he was attacked by settlers
Israeli authorities released an Oscar-winning Palestinian director who was detained by the army after being attacked by settlers in the occupied West Bank.
He said they beat him in front of his home while they filmed the assault.
Hamdan Ballal and the other directors of No Other Land, which looks at the struggles of Palestinians living under Israeli occupation, had mounted the stage at the 97th Academy Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month when it won the award for best documentary film.
On Wednesday, with bruises on his face and blood on his clothes, he was released from an Israeli police station in the West Bank settlement of Kiryat Arba. He and two other Palestinians who had been attacked and detained were taken to a nearby hospital.
Ballal said he was held at an army base, blindfolded for 24 hours and forced to sleep under a freezing air conditioner.
“All my body is pain,” he told The Associated Press. “I heard the voices of the soldiers, they were laughing about me … I heard ‘Oscar’ but I didn’t speak Hebrew.”

Imagine the juxtaposition, one week at the Oscars being celebrated for his documentary, the next week being attacked by Zionist things for daring to tell the truth.

Is that chart of bomb tonnage and location accurate? I have long thought that Dresden hasn’t a case for its claim of being an innocent bystander of beauty. But compared to London it shows as receiving far less. It seems it became a similar late target as Japan’s twin nuclear targets, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
But then step back and look at the Gaza column (Palestine) in recent times. Horrific, the world’s viciousness cannot be revenged or punished by setting a higher level? The numerous Jewish scholars around the world and in history should outflank any bunch of proponents of such behaviour. It seems that enough viciousness retained will infest a person’s whole system and then spread to epidemic proportions. (Look up vicious on google meanings – there is a large choice of suitable words for your choice.)
Dresden was firebombed with incendiaries so that would account for less tonnage .
