  1. people need to remember it was the gnats that cut the benefits in 1990 the mother of all budgets and then they increased it so really they haven’t done anything.

  2. Unfortunately successive Labour Governments have continued down the neoliberal path and have not addressed or acknowledged the destruction started by Roger Douglas and David Lange, people were blinded my the neoliberal agenda and the supposed benefits and efficiencies they were going to deliver to the people of New Zealand.

Unfortunately the “Neoliberal Experiment” backfired on the average New Zealander, the majority of our State Assets, like the Bank of New Zealand, The Rural Bank, Telecom, NZ Rail to name a few were asset stripped and ended up in the hands of offshore Corporates or Investment Bankers with very little benefit to New Zealand.

This current National Government is currently stripping away the remains of the State Asset carcass State Housing and selling them off to the private sector, the health and well being of the average New Zealander and the lower socio economic sectors of society are being ignored under the guise of sound economic management and balancing the books?

Forget about our rivers being turned into cess pits, our harbours being polluted with raw sewerage, and working people living in cars, this is what is required for a modern day “Rockstar Economy”?

  4. Great post. Lets hope there is a change of government this year to save the state houses and everything else being destroyed by National.

I hope there is legal challenges to prevent them selling state houses prior to the election.

I’d also like those buying the state houses to be subject to an audit and checks for corruption with any purchase made and large penalties for those guilty of buying or selling them off.

    1. yeah agree save nz an audit as we might find some of the gnats have had their fingers in the pie

  5. Yes, John, absolutely.

And I sincerely hope nobody reading TDB has bought into the “conservatives care” crock of shit and use their vote in September to boot these crims and backsliding arseholes into the political wilderness where they belong.

  6. The people won’t do anything until it impacts on their lives. We’ll need to have hundreds sleeping rough in the streets before NZers wake up to the reality of National’s stripping of state housing. Sad, but true. This is the legacy of “Reality TV”, which shows anything but reality.

  7. You know what, that Bill English look in the face tells me the following: “You lazy NZers have to work a damned lot longer and harder, to deserve living in YOUR OWN country”, that is the total arrogance of this man.

They take away the ownership of the power companies, they take away the right of self determination by allowing massive immigration of neoliberal and capitalist exploitation scheme friendly new immigrants, and they allow people to sell their own country, e.g. real estate, to foreigners, and thus pull the mat from underneath the feet of the rest of who stand on it.

We have a truly unethical, almost criminal government in Wellington at the moment, if any Kiwi still wants to save his or her country, it is damned time to cast your vote very wisely this September, do NOT cast it for this exploiting and disowning band of criminals, thanks.

I was not even born here, so please, heed my voice, I feel your future is under very serious threat, if you give the Nats a fourth term.
